You think it would be worth it to spend 3 grand to get carbon fiber hood, doors, and rear hatch? It is not for looks, cause I would definitely paint it, but for lightening up the Talon. Would It really make a real difference?

it would make a little bit of a difference, but with the money you spend on all that could get you some really good performance upgrades that would surpass the times you would get for the weight loss.
i'd spend the money on the motor setup. i see that being a bigger benifit over anything else.
i think if you did it, it would help Im not sure how much but i know those carbon fiber doors are crazy light
Yes it would help.
Sure it would help, but honestly, the money to advantage ratio is low. I wouldn't spend 3k on Carbon Stuff unless it's a for real racing car. Numerous carbon fiber bodypanels on a street car is a waste of money in my opinion. 3 grand can do a whole lot more for you.
It's a DSM, you are going to need that 3k soon for mechanical issues anyway, sock it away and let some interest build up.

Thanks guys. Reps to all who give me some good input, when I can.![]()
I don't really know what the OEM parts weigh. I do know the CF doors weigh 19 lbs, can't remember what the hood and hatch weigh but they are really light. I do know it will save a pretty good amount, not just like 50 lbs but more like probably 100 lbs or maybe a bit more.
not worth it at all....

unless you already have the power and suspension where you want it cf seems like a waste of money to me
I once heard from someone that 100 pounds in weight savings ROUGHLY translates to about a .10 quicker in the quarter mile??
Does anyone know how true this is?
3000 dollars for .10 off of a time slip.... "And thats all i got to say about that"
pretty much. the weight taken off wouldn't really benifit unless its al all out race car. for a street car? its kinda stupid.
you said the motor was built already? i'm sure there is a lot more that can be done. with 3k you can see it up to 450+hp or more. but i wouldn't go that far for a street car though. maybe around 400 would be enough but thats the highest i personally would go.
carbon doors are uber light they fly open sooo hard when the wind blows.. good thing is they probably wont dent the car next to you.. but they will eff up your door..
