240z or SC300/400
I'm in a debate with myself on which car I should buy next. I've narrowed it down to 2 cars. 1st Gen 240z or either a SC300 or 400. Which would you choose if you were looking for a daily driver with roughly 280-350 hp? Doesn't sound like much for now but I'm figuring in on what I could afford for now. Who knows maybe I'll own both someday. Any comments or suggestions?

I wish I could right now but i gotta find another job first. Got rid of my civic because I'm not into making cars that only have 109 hp from the factory fast. Waste of money and doesn't look cool either. IDC what others think, civics are just rice whether they can beat other cars or not. Yeah I know the sc's are easy power which is one of the reasons I want one. I also think they look better than the mkiv supra.
those would be completely different daily driver experiences so you gotta find out what you really want

I agree, a 240Z is expensive to keep up for daily use. Its not nearly as reliable or easy to use than the SC's. You can get a clean SC300 fairly cheap and if you get a 5 speed you've got an easy path for future upgrades. I would get the SC well before I even looked at a 240Z. You have to ask yourself if you want a reliable easy to keep up with daily or do you want something that isn't going to be as reliable or user friendly but with much more OG status.

Yeah, I've heard about that. Plus all the parts for the 240 can be rare and expensive. OG status would be sweet, but the sc300 can be baller, ha. I would plan to drop a sr20 in the 240 if I were to get that, who knows maybe an RB. That what take a while to save up though. SC300 or 400 seems to be the way to go I guess. Now I just need to get another job and sell my craparo then I could be on my way to my first build.

240's are expensive as fuck to keep them running.

Though I'm not talking about a 240sx, you are right DieselNuts. Though they are 10x better than the civic. So it seems that I'm gonna go with the SC then. I was leaning more toward that anyways but who in the hell can resist a classic like the Z. By the way the pic fcman posted is pretty sick. I would want to be buried in that car.

I just respect the build if there is actually a build. If you just drop a K in the piece of shit it doesn't make it cool and shouldn't earn any respect. SC300...without question. The 240Z is a good bet too. I love the SC.
I kinda already have a little planned on what to do with the SC(most likely 400, i like the sound of the v8). Get it painted Lambo Murcielago pearl black metallic, Air Force Suspension, N/A the engine, or drop a 3uz-fe in it, 19" Weds Kranze Borphes Chrome wheels, Yokohama tires which I used on my civic and camaro and are pretty nice, AVID S4 I think.

Understandable. Either way it would be an upgrade, I would definately put in an RB if I could afford it. With the Sr20det its already about 100hp more than the factory z. It would be more of a temporary thing and then sell it to help pay for the skyline engine. I know it takes alot of custom fabrication to get it to bolt up but I know someone who can do it really cheap and great quality.
Yeah, I can understand why someone wouldn't want to "down grade" to a 4 banger, but it already has about 100hp more than the z motor. The power weight ratio would be pretty sick. Not to mention the U.S. is filthy with sr20det mods so its a bit more accessable and a little cheaper than mods for a skyline power plant.
