Whoa whoa whoa. best motor for gas mileage, yeah. But lets not forget about the YAMAHA motors that were in the original SHOS from 89-95! (The 96-99 V8s sucked). The 220Hp DOHC 3.0L (or 3.2L) V6 was a beast.

    I vote SHO!

I'm blown away by both of them...but for a car for me to own, I get a stick-shift with the Mustang and that V-8 burble.

Ford did really well with the Taurus SHO though.

The old SHO had one of the best looking engine bays ever though. Same can't be said about the new one...hahaha.

Asking about Mustangs on an import dominant forum will get a lot of people that dont know shit from shine-o-la coming out saying dumbass things lol

Id choose the Mustang, but im partial. The SHO barely outperformed the G37S.(stock for stock) The Mustang pulled a .92G on the Skidpad, pretty solid if you ask me.

I voted for Mustang as well (also partial) but you'll probably get people saying a good skidpad is achieved through nothing much but sticky tires.

All the tests were done on the stock tires that come with the car from the factory.

    The SHO is AWD.

I was on a Ford lot in Memphis the other day and the SHO was awesome...they sold the one I was looking at 15 minutes before I hit the lot...it was also the first time I have seen the new Mustang since its redesign...gawd...it was even uglier in person compared to the last few years...they also had an 08 GT 500 with 428 miles for $40K next to the SHO that I couldn't stop taking my eyes off of...the new SHO is much bigger then previous generations and would be my pick!

S-H-O! All day. I mean, how can you get better than 365hp and 360 ft/pds torque WITH all wheel drive for under $40K in a NEW car? Can't see anyway to.

I agree. I saw one at Commerce the other day and it was very long and tall. Borderline crossover (adjective).

Like has already been said SHO because the mustang is too played out. Yes 36X hp and 3XX lb ft of tq with awd would be even better with a manual but , FORD ECOBOOST FTMFW!!

But no AWD....so the Camaro can get it in a straight line, but methinks the SHO could make some headwaves in the twisties.

SHO vs Chrysler 300C, SHO vs Audi A6... theres been tons of comparisons on the new SHO that are giving it an edge over its opponents. Hell, youtube is full of em. Its impressive for what it is. There will always be those people that say "its still a ford taurus".. you know... the people that dont appreciate a car for what it does, they only judge it by what it is. Thats not a real car ehtusiast.

I look foward to seeing what changes they bring in 2012.

Theres a 2010 SHO running 12's in youtube right now, stock. (with minor tweaks here and there)

I guess I can say now that Ford was interested in giving me my choice of one of these cars for Bullrun, but it all happened so fast that we didn't have time to go through the bureaucracy o make it happen. Thanks for all of the input and glad this sparked some cool conversations about the cars.

Yeah, but for all the extra power in the SS, it's still almost 3900 lbs. The Mustang is almost 300 lbs lighter and still performs reasonably well against the Camaro. Car and Driver had a pretty good write up between the Challenger, Mustang, and Camaro back in July. Yes the Camaro does out perform it in a straight line, but i'd take a track pack GT over a SS any day.

All that aside, I would chose the SHO over the Mustang, but that's cause i'm a sucker for forced induction. Not to mention that with a good tune, that car would get real fun real quick.
