import
depends on what it is. if its a domestic trying to be an import, i.e. your caviliers neons or probes, import no question. but you cant really compare a b20 or h22 to an lt1 can you?
"...I'm a thief, I'm a liar, There's my church, I sing in the choir..."
That actually makes no sense. The only way a domestic can "try to be an import" is if you put import badges on them. I didn't try to make my Neon an import. A made my Neon to be an autoX car and that's what it is. It doesn't look like an import. It has no import parts on it. Why didn't you say if it's an import trying to be a domestic? Make sense next time, dude. Later, QD.Originally Posted by sebastianHoff

I don't think its a failure. Just not specific enough. Kinda vague.
i think hes actually trying to say is.....actual imports over "J-bodies"/domestic sport compact cars.Originally Posted by sebastianHoff
what i was saying, which might require some outside thinking to understand, is you cant really compare a traditional american car to an import. you cant put a stock mustang or camaro next to a stock integra, eclipse, or 240sx and ask which performs better. the domestics would butcher em, its not even a fair contest. but if you take a domestic, like the neon or cavalier, that was designed from the get go to compete with the civic (or a probe that for all intensive purposes is an mx6) then the import takes it, no question.
now before you all start bitchin about how your cars are better, im sure they are, but they probably arent stock. hell my s14 has violated cars that cost 12x what it cost me to build. but the only fair way to judge is from stock condition, and in stock condition my s14 was a turd. i mean shit it had a hard time out running its exhaust and that comes out the back of the friggin car.

Yeah this thread sucks.
And its in all motor too. I think we all know all motor, domestics own.
x2, and LMAO at the new guy misunderstanding QD AND trying to insult him... In all motor, no replacement for displacement.Originally Posted by 1439/2000

Import, my parents say American cars are not reliable. What'd you expect asian parents to say ?![]()
Thats like saying all asians are smart... or all asians can't drive lol. You can't generalize... Sure sure the american auto industry has had a few bad eggs, but there are some american cars out there that you just cannot kill. The Chevy 350, Chevy 4.3, Ford 5.0 (as long as you dont redline it often this motor will go on for damn near ever), GM 3.8, etc. There are some unreliable imports too lol.... My tracker needed a new tranny after 15k miles after the beating I was laying on it haha.Originally Posted by KevinT707

haha, yea I was kidding (kinda) .. & I thought Chevy made the Tracker

Well, thats what the badge says, but you pop the hood and it's all Suzuki. And mine was actually a 96 Geo tracker.. and i believe Geo is a Korean company. But ya, it's the exact same thing as a Suzuki Sidekick, same chassis, powertrain, interior, everything... they just have a different name lol.Originally Posted by KevinT707

Sorry. Wrong. The Neon, although not nearly as reliable engine-wise, outdid the Civic in performance pretty well. Stock for stock, the Neon had between 25-40 more HP, torques was stronger and it out-handled the Civic. Remember(if ou didn't know) the Neon was orignally designed as an auto-X car. That's why it has always faired very well in auto-X everywhere. Later, QD.Originally Posted by sebastianHoff
i understand perfectly what i said, if you didnt thats fine(most people dont), but dont get in my ass about it either. im not gonna argue with you about the neon, never owned one and i've never considered buying one. all i can go off are what friends who work, or worked, for chrysler or the daimler group say and what i read in the industry rags. seems they were tryin to build an american car that could compete with imports and personally id rather buy an import than the american equvilant.

You would be right sir. However the Cavalier beat out most of the pack. Kinda killed that hands down argument lol.Originally Posted by vteckidd

yeah, the main advantage honda has always had over other cars has been the ability to rev. they have much longer, usuable powerbands compared to their "domestic" compact car bretheren.
Still, for the money:
