Exclamation D15B to EK chassis swap

    I have a 98 civic lx, with a stock factory D16Y7 motor/auto tranny.

    The motor blows up.

I called place motor came from and ordered a warrantied motor.

The motor arrives and its not a D16Y7.

What arrived is a D15B. I double checked, thats all it says.

I know absolutely NOTHING about this motor other than its a SOHC, 1.5L, 4cy.

Where the hell do i go from here.

Should i just replace that motor anyways and hope everything will fit with no need for modification?

Should I start shopping for a ECU?

Someone educated and who knows what they are talking about please point me in the right direction.

    Thank you.

    PS:

Under the engine code stamped on the block, i saw this number (3209274).

Is there a way to cross reference this number to a website or something to find out exactly what car the motor came from and if its a VTEC or not?

Why not call them back and tell them you want the right engine?

just drop it in. If its the jdm d15b, then it makes more power than your d16y7 anyways, about 130hp or so. Just reuse your injectors and dizzy and you should be fine.

And yes it's vtec, you can check by looking for the vtec solenoid near the dizzy.
