    Default Offset question...

If I'm looking at rims with a +38 offset and I decide to look at a set with a +30 offset, the +30 offset would stick out further I understand. My question is, how much? What would that be in inches? Is the offset number in millimeters? I know nothing about offsets and stuff. Thanks. Later, QD.
