    Default Si turbo Kits

Ok. A buddy of mine has a 1999 Civic Si and is wanting to get around 400 hp on stock internals and still us the car as a daily drive. He was wondering what are some good name turbo setups for the Si and the normal price for one. Also, he would not like to have to pull the motor out of the car if at all possible. is this a realistic goal? 400hp with stock block from an si and not taking the motor out of the car? Thanks

I'm sure it could be done but how reliably, I don't know. It would probably be pushing it. Maybe setting it up w/ two stages of tune, one street one track. w/ the stock engine being 10.5:1 cr I wouldn't want to be running the boost pressures needed for that car to be at 400whp on 93 octane. Maybe w/ a thicker head gasket and methanol injection. I'm really just talking out of my ass to give you a response. Someone will know for sure that can answer your question. I would think 300 on a stock block would be really damn good. Most bolt on kits that you can buy are only hitting 230-260whp. You would definately need something more than an FMU to tune properly to make 300+

    400whp on stock internals=not possible

you need RACE GAS and a JG edelbrock and a pretty big turbo. It wont be reliable. itll pop

We charge $3500 for a turbo kit, parts and labor, and itll make 260-280whp with C12. On pump 240-250whp.

Why is he so worried about pulling the motor out? The only reason you might would take the motor out is if u were to replace ur internals, which even then, u can leave the block in the car. Since he doesnt want to pull it out, im guessing that he is going to install it himself??

To answer your question, im sure you could get 300whp on a b16 w/ stock internals, but you will need a better intake manifold and pretty good size turbo, and then you will need a very good tune, but even w/ a great tune, im not sure how reliable 300whp is goin to be. Ive seen it done on b18s i think but im not so sure on a b16.

Personally, i just think your friend needs to do some more research before he jumps into anything. Wanting 400hp on stock internals shows he's not very familier w/ turbos or his motor's capabilities. It's a lot of money to invest in ur car to go screwing something up cuz you didnt do ur research first. I thnk he just needs to learn a few things and figure out what his goals are first (daily driver, drag car, etc...) Maybe someone could give him a ride in theirs so he can see just how quick 250whp is in something as light as a civic is. Id say thats great for a daily driver, cuz without slicks, all 400whp is goin to do is spin the tires when u jump on it.
Looking for a shop that does quality work??

i guess he's worried about blowing it up, then having to pull it out, then rebuild it. haha, thats what i was worried about. well maybe i wasnt. back when i had a stock b16 i put 15 psi on the ol 18g greddy kit. only made a few pulls, cant believe it didnt blow it up.

anyhow, if you want a turbo kit, you should just make one. by a good turbo, buy a good manifold, have someone fab. you a nice 3" downpipe and dump tube. buy the wastegate. you'll have the best of all parts and your price will be around the same

stock internals, i recommend up to 100hp over stock reliably w/ a good tune for a b or d series. you can get 300whp out of a b16, but daily it won't last as long...even w/ a good tune. i recommend rods/pistons/headstuds for 300 or more. sleeves if really want to push over 500whp consistently, although i've heard of folks pushing 600+ on stock sleeves.
