    3) My car is fwd...so? That's the reason why I don't mod my car for performance. Going fast in a fwd car is pointless. I bought my car to take me to school and back reliably. And my car hasn't broke down yet. So get off my back. I could care less about speed right now...There will be a time and a place for when I want to get a sports car...

Now get off my nuts douchebag.
Im sorry but i read this and could not help but laugh..

Completely agree with you though lol.. I bought my max for the same reason...

Didn't Nissan consider the Maxima a "four door sports car"? It had 4DSC on the backseat window.

Nissan does consider the maxima a 4 door sports car, and even has marketed the cars as such. I do not consider maximas sporys cars, they are strictly mid size sedans to me. Maxima's handle like shit and make only decent power from factory, and they're fwd which is unsuitable for a sports car.

So.... can FR hatchbacks be sports cars? or is this strictly FR/RR coupes?

Gees there is so much fail in this thread, there is no appropriate response.

However, a definition of a "sports car" from my favorite legitimate information source Wikipedia:

A sports car is a term used to describe a class of automobile, typically of two seats and two doors, with precise handling, brisk acceleration, sharp braking, and attractive aesthetics. A sports car makes trade offs in practical considerations such as passenger space, comfort, and cargo capacity in favor of those traits which enhance the joy of driving it.

Now from you I WOULD like to hear your reasoning, since I know you will put a little thought into it. What is it that doesn't qualify the STi (more specifically the 04-07 models, I agree that the '08+ has been softened up a lot) as a sports car? My reasoning behind believing it IS, is due to the lack of creature comforts (mine didn't even come from the factory with a radio lol) the pretty decent power output, fantastic braking system for the price bracket, AWD and pretty good handling. I agree that, for example, my S2000 is a lot sportiER, however the STi outclasses it in most aspects stock for stock. I don't mind a debate and learning something from someone with an IQ, so please help me understand it.
    Who knows?

This is untrue. The s2k is faster, handles better, and probably brakes better. I also think the s2k has a nicer interior.

....maybe....I do not have a 4 cylinder car nor research about correlations between types of header and sound output so....cool

On a side note I heard a porsche 911 non turbo 4s the other day at meet...and it was so loud and menacing and just badass..something about boxer engines sound great

The main issue is what is classified as a sports car. At the end of the day, a car with 4 doors just isn't a sports car. That isn't to say it isn't sporty or fast. It is to classify it under its proper bracket. An SUV for example wouldn't be compared to a mini van because it is a different type of vehicle. They both perform similar functions in different ways but they are still different types of vehicles.

The STi from the very beginning was a homoligation tool used by Subaru to run in the Group A days of the WRC. Group A rules stated that if Subaru wanted to contest the championship with the Impreza STi, they would have to construct 2500 STi's within a 12 month period and these would have to come from a minimum production of 25,000 Imprezas STi or not. So....you had to be able to buy a version of this tuned Impreza in order for it to compete.

So...how does that compare to a sports car? Well, a sports car is typically a vehicle that is designed to bring excitement to a brand. Unlike the STi though, (which is an Impreza), it has to be a stand alone vehicle such as a Chevrolet Corvette.

The only real argument is whether 4 seats can be classified as a sports car because if not, then it would rule out the Porsche 911 line which by my opinion is the greatest car/sportscar ever made. A true GT car like the Aston Martin DB9 and Ferrari 599 are also not considered sports cars.

To give you more examples, the STi is not the best example of a car that could be a sports car but isn't. Ford's Escort Cosworth had two doors but was still an Escort. It was one of the greatest driving machines ever put together but it still wasn't a sports car.

It might be a little faster than an s2k stock...maybe....but only in 1/4 mile, on the highway the s2k will win every time stock for stock

You need to fucking understand something dipshit. I don't pull these facts out of my ass, I OWN BOTH OF THESE CARS. My STi hit low 13's bone stock, and would also pull an S2000 stock for stock. The STi weighs a bit more, HOWEVER the STi also comes with 4-piston Brembo brakes up front with 13" rotors STOCK.

The S2000 is a shit ton of fun, but the only reason it outhandles the STi is because of the weight distribution and wheelbase. It is more responsive, but I firmly believe stock for stock the STi would carry more speed through a corner.

EJ25RUN- Thanks for the information man, I really do appreciate it. I never mind learning something new. I see what you mean though, that even though the STi clearly excels when competing against "true" sports cars, it still just isn't classified the same.
    Who knows?

See unlike you I am not a pansy and I am not going to report you calling me a dipshit to a mod. Why? Because I could care less what you think.

Wow I can't believe you get so emotional over this...wait, yes I can...

Report whatever you want dude, there is nothing racist in any of my posts. That's the only reason I even PM'ed the post to a mod is because it has a racist remark in it, and it's simply against the rules. don't like it? don't say the shit.
And I know the STi is faster than a S2000. As I said I have them both sitting in my driveway cupcake, you don't have to tell me shit I know first hand.
    Who knows?
