why, most jdm engines have higher compression. other then the pistons, d16 blocks are pretty much the same. the y7 has the dip stick on the side witch is out of the way of the turbo , and the y8 has known oil pump issues , any of these would be fine- d16a6, d16z6,16y7 or either one of the sohc zc's

Really any of them theirs really not a big difference between the D16's, But for my vote I'd say the Y8, Newer=less miles, better tranys, Cheap, Vtec, Good intake manifolds, over 200hp easily......

ahhh you will think im nuts but a d15z1 E vtec is a good choice as far as the block. when the head is off look down in the coolant walls and its like this, the bottom of the inside of the water jackets are only half way from the top of cylinder compared to the others being at the very bottom and it slants to the back on the intake side so it more reinforced on the thrust side od the block and has pretty thick sleeves and a fully main cap girdle! also the d15z1 pistons r low compression when used with other vtec heads cause they have a huge dish in them. the d16 cranks and rods with these pistons should all interchange as well because the blocks are tough,im telling you but the heads for the d15z1 are the weakpoint with little economy flow ports hince E-VTEC!
