to save money? yeah, that's a scam.. ask your insurance company (oh right then they wouldnt let you do what you are trying to do right?)

I know and understand EXACTLY what you are trying to do... and you wouldn't be trying to do it if you weren't trying to scam money (yes, not paying what you rightfully should is scamming)... i mean... if you paid the same in your name you wouldn't be having this issue would you?

regardless of whether or not you have full coverage... it's a scam... sorry to say you'll understand some day when your premiums go up cause some kid is trying to pull the same shit you are... so just remember that you did it too so you have no room to complain... just saying... we all do our time...

do you not pay your taxes too?
Here's something that ought to shut you up about this:

The kid is a DEPENDENT of his dad still. He's perfectly within his rights to go to his dad and have Insurance coverage taken out on his dad's policy on the SONS car. Believe it or not EVERY Insurance company I've ever been with is more than happy to let an adult "take responsibility" for a younger driver and add them to their policy. The Adult is then responsible for the deductibles as well as the premiums, whereas the kid gets to drive free. If the adult wants to get something out of the kid, then that's between the two of them. Since the adult has essentially spoken up for the kid the Insurance companies will give them a reduced premium and offer better coverage than if it were just the kid himself. Believe it or not this is how most NORMAL people get insurance on their cars until they are 24-25 or so. Because so many people go this way (even on cars they own themselves) the Insurance companies especially jack up rates on people under 25 who go out on their own, because they're suspicious of why there's nobody willing to add them to their policy.

I dunno where you pulled this scam shit from, but please drop it, you're off on a rant and most of us are sitting here thinking that we did the same thing when we got our first couple of cars. Cars were in our name with our parents insurance policy.

OP: If you paid for that ride, keep it in YOUR name. I'd bet some change that the Insurance company doesn't even look at whose name is on the car title, and you can get it registered with your name and then your dad's name if you want. I didn't when I bought my 240z, I just have my name on the Title, my name on the Registration, and put it right next to my Audi (Same way) on my mom's insurance policy and paid her for the difference in cost to her. Putting it on a seperate policy in my name would have cost five times what it cost with her on it, even with me listed as the primary driver and telling the truth to the insurance company the whole way. In theory at least you can put anyone you want with any car they drive onto your Insurance policy, as long as they get the money, the Insurance company won't care.

You're right... if he were not deliberately trying to act like it was his dad's car and he was an occasional driver... then it wouldn't be a scam... it does depend on the insurance company and the car and who is primary driver etc. He would be much better off to tell the insurance co that it is his car and he is driving it and be added to his parents policy... and that is was what most normal people do that are not trying to get around the system... but deliberately trying to put your car in your parents name and listing your parent as the primary driver of YOUR car is a scam whether you like it or not... depending on the insurance co, being a primary driver or additional driver on a policy may or may not make a difference in the cost... obviously the OP didn't do any research on any of this on his own or we wouldn't have had any of this thread here in the first place.

Again, do what you want, I don't care... just sayin...
