The Mini is one of the greatest ever nameplates in automotive history.

You said slow....is your idea of going fast a straight line?
Cheap.....It is a BMW. It is built very well. How exactly is it cheap?
Reputation huh? Is that a conv i see in your sig? Gay people like those a whole lot if you didn't notice but I'm not gonna argue with you on this subject.

After the STi, i plan on getting something like a Mini or a Fiat 500.

Again, go learn a bit more about cars before you start throwing bias from out of nowhere.

Did you notice the two guys who run the track are often disagree with you? There's good reason.

    X1000.
What he said and that doesn't even begin to show you how ignorant you just laughing at the idea of a Mini being a bad car...

Come to think about it, every Magazine from Top Gear, Evo, Car and Driver, Road and Track and so on that has ever featured a "Best Handling Car In the World" has featured a Mini IIRC from the back of my head. They are one of the worlds best driving cars. Period.

I use to work with a room full of about 50-60 driving instructors age 18-65. Most were club racers, some were X-pro, one was even one of Michelins pro-test drivers (she) and they drove anything from Camaro's to Miata's on the track and street, and at the driving school. If you scorned a mini-for being a terrible, cheap and a slow car, all 60 of us would probably look at you in an unnatural and confused silence. Then in one of our meetings, joke about your sorry lack of experience and probable drug experimentation for fun.

If Chrysler gets the extra 3B after they get their restructuring - the Fiat 35% stake should go through and after that the 500s should be available in the US since the dealer network will be shared.

That will be good! Maybe pick up a 500SS for some fun?

Here's the most current "plan"...so that means maybe 40% likly.

Fiat planning to ship 500, Alfa Romeo 940 to U.S. next year
by Damon Lavrinc on Feb 16th 2009 at 8:56AM

As soon as word hit that Fiat and Chrysler were striking a deal, visions of 500s and Alfas began dancing in our heads. According to an anonymous source speaking with Automotive News, those visions aren't too far off, and they could be realized within a year.

In a bid to kick-start Fiat and Alfa Romeo's return to the U.S., the automaker could start exporting vehicles to the States as early as 2010. After which – and assuming the reception's warm – Fiat would begin producing the 500 and the new Alfa 940 (the 149 replacement) in North America in mid-2011. At the onset, the first models available would be limited to a few thousand and would be sold through Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep retailers.

Furthermore, the deal between the two automakers would give Chrysler access to four Fiat platforms, ranging from minicars to mid-sizers, along with 1.4- and 1.8-liter engines and a new six-speed dual-clutch gearbox (internally dubbed the G365), that would pick up where Chrysler's failed alliance with Getrag left off.

AN also reports that Fiat is considering using the Chrysler LX platform, which currently underpins the 300 and Dodge Charger, as the basis for the perpetually-delayed, upper-premium Alfa Romeo 169. A rear-wheel-drive sedan with Alfa's stunning sheetmetal? Our interest is piqued, but we're not holding our breath.

I still dont get it...will it be branded as a Chrysler or a Fiat being sold at a Chrysler dealer?

BTW...I think it is written 500 esseesse But i want Abarth.

Oh did you know the new Ford Ka (same on that was in new 007 film) is based on the 500 platform?

    I dont think it has.

The s2k is nice, but fucking POINTLESS. It is a TRACK car just like the Lotus Elise. Both POINTLESS cars off the track.

A customer came into our shop with an original BODY mini. It was a 69 i believe but equipped with a JDM B16!

It was difficult to drive but wicked fast. Now you can get the original Mini's with K20's or K24's, WITH A/C and WITH a supercharger!!!
