I agree that the miata has better suspension esp up front but making power in a miata cost $ and I think that might help the 240 make up some of the difference.

Not really, you could swap in another motor, or boost the 1.6, or a 1.8 and stroke it to a 2.0, not to mention power to weight, Miata owns the 240 on weight.
