I like the 993 more than the 996 version. (Even though it is really a 962 underneath)

Yeah the 993 GT1 is one of my favorite Porsche race cars ever. I love these, when I was little I preferred these asses to a females.

I've always been curious (and I know the answer might be lengthy so feel free to shoot me a PM) but what do the numbers mean in the Porsche line up? I've never known the answer. I thought for a while some of the numbers were the litres but I doubt there is a 9.6 litre Porsche... or is there?

Porsche decided that the Porsche 901 was to be the first in a new naming structure of cars from 1964 onwards. The 901 was supposed to be the replacement for the 356. Peugeot threatened to sue as the had a govt right in France to car names with the pattern #0#.

So Porsche decided to just call the car the 911. That remains till this day.
