you state in your user cp that you run 12.9 correct, and you want to call a high 11sec stock c6z06 slow and over rated?

    Ah ha ha ha ha!!!

    12.9, eh?

So, basically what you are saying......is a STOCK late 90's Vette is slow and over-priced? 'Cause that's the only thing that you're gonna beat at 12.9.

I'm guessing a 500whp Integra can't get the power to the ground and would lose in most cases.

However, it's got a better p:w ratio than any Vette on the road (including the ZR1).

This thread reminds me of this video: C5 Z06 vs Turbo Integra. Vid is nice, especially if you haven't seen it.

No, because all of the force is being pushed away from the front tires, making them harder to hook.

Also, a Vette is not light in the rear, they are almost perfectly balanced. The transmission sits in the rear, almost between the rear tires.

    With a 185lb driver, they're almost perfectly balanced. It's like 50.4/49.6

Of course, I'm thinking of the Z06. The Coupe might be different, I'm not sure. The front fenders on the Z are lighter, and the engine is a tad lighter, although the brakes are heavier.

Good thing I'm not one of those Corvette drivers with money. The skill part I won't comment on. I used to have money when I had my Integra R back in 98 and MR2 Turbo back in 01. Now, I'm broke and drive a corvette. Pretty ironic! What Ive learned over the past few years is that it sucks trying to squeeze blood from a turnip! A costly turnip at that. Take it easy folks

As far as this thread is concerned, you can take a Hyundai and put 2 engines in it and will be almost unreal and beat anything you want. 500 is 500. I would feel safer in a car that was designed to have 500 hp than pretending to be an engineer making the car do something it wasn't intended for. I guess Im old so feeling safe is important. Once again though, with money and time you can have a car that flies in the air like the Brits!

not all vette owners! My previous MR2 was faster than my vette. I still wasn't God! I will agree though there are some car people who drive anything from Yugo's to Hyundai Accents and will swear by life that nothing else can compete. To say every car owner who drives a (insert your brand here) is a prick,a-hole, or thinks they're God like is really just stereotypical.

Well, everyone I have ever met.... Same with evo/sti/srt-4 people.. They think they are all superior to all Hondas, doesn't matter if your stock or whatever.. They also look down on you too...

You seem to have a lot of issues.....which causes your perception of the world to be pretty skewed.

And just for the record......a Z06 will beat a lot of modified Evos, STI's, SRT-4's and Hondas.

These chats are very interesting. Speed is speed. My car is light and fun. Not a drag car by any means but runs pretty well when I hit the strip.

The best thing is this is IMPORT atlanta of course its going to be slightly skewed toward the imports.

500 isnt really 500 to me... still plenty of contributing factors... my 500whp gto would get OWNED by a 500whp z06.

stock c6z puts around 460 or so whp, my sti stock put down 260ish stock....just food for thought, all in all anything can be fast if enough time and money is put into it

    Yup.

Even a stock C5 Z would beat most of those cars with basic upgrades (not swapping/adding a turbo or supercharger).

A C6 Z will beat almost any of the cars you listed on any type of pump gas tune (yes, there are exceptions...but for cars you are actually going to run into, most won't hang with a C6 Z without a race gas build).

Charles (ct9gsr or whatever his screen name is) had a fully built Evo...with a GT35 turbo I believe. I can't remember what turbo he was using that night, but it was before he put the bigger one on. Anyway, he raced me on a pump gas tune at 28psi and we were pretty much dead even when I was stock.

And keep in mind...when I say "beat," I'm talking about a very quick race in straight line acceleration. In stock form, a Z06 (especially a C6) will annihilate all of these cars in braking, traction, skid pad, slalom, aerodynamics, top speed, high speed stability, and possibly even durability.

Sure, you can build any car to do whatever you want it to do with the right amount of money and time. But in stock form, a Corvette is pretty damn good in all categories. When it comes to the Z06, they're quite monsterous from the factory. There's a reason that the Z06 has been voted the best value sports car in the world for several years.

^^ Makes some good points. There is more to performance than just 1/4 mile shit and highway pulls. I cna show you a z06 blistering a b18c5 Mini in the twisties and getting WALKED in the straights by that same mini. Take the good w/ the bad. While I am not a glutton for punishment, I do like being the underdog. Sometimes you don't have to "win" in order to win. I've sprayed my old Crower B16 against some serious heat, and lost --- we pull over and THEY are pissed b/c of how close I kept it w/ a car that I can insure for pennies and has a KBB value of 1500 or less. To each his own.

    Yup.

It's funny, I usually have the exact opposite reaction. I have raced guys who have worked on their car specifically to run with me. Seen them "test" race gas tunes, spray, blown their motors up, almost had their cars fall apart..you name it. And all this, just to keep up with 1 of the MANY aspects (in fact, probably the easiest for another car to try to match) that my car can do so well. So when we get done, it makes me feel pretty good to know someone went through all that trouble, and all I did was put bolt ons on my car lol

While the ZR1 added 80 - 90rwhp, it also gained 200lbs. They're not THAT much faster than Z06s....I'm guessing about as fast, or a tad faster than bolt on C6 Z's.
