BFGoodrich KDW VS. Falken Azenis

I wanna know the pros and the cons from people that have actually used the tires and not just reviews from companys. That will tell me "Oh these are the best tires in the world,If you buy them you can take turns at well over 200mph" .JK just wanna see which one is the bang for the buck.And Handle the best as well as have a good treadwear.

I've driven both but on two different types of cars entirely, I personally liked the Azenis more. But like I said, the car could have played a role lol.

What cars did you have them on and what kind of driving were you doing road racing?

I use Falkens on my civic for autox and they are great. I can take the turns at well over 200 mph.(jk) But I have used bothe and the falkens hold a little tighter. Except in rain.

this is simple

KDW 2's for a good tire that good in rain and dry condition's great for daily driving

Falken Azenis for track day's or Auto X events. not good for a daily tire. thay also dont do to well in the rain.. i.e hydroplaining FTL

they are great dry tires but suck in the rain!

i have kdw's in 245/40/18 on my STi and I couldn't be happier with them. the wet grip is passable, but in the dry i am yet to have made them lose traction.

sorry to threadjack but which two are better for daily driving/longer tread life? I used to have Azenis but I boiught them used so idk how long of a full life they have ya know

Azenis are good for about 10k spirited miles, not much more.

I got a couple of the Azenis sets out to some atl "tuner" folks years a few years ago.

I got feedback from one gentleman regarding BOTH tires, I hear the KDW has better wet traction.

the KDW will last a LITTLE bit longer, but grip a good bit less in the dry. wet traction is a little different though. azenis are decent in the rain when theyre relatively new, i.e >50%, but after that they will hydroplane a little more than the kdw.

i would personally go with the azenis on a more lightweight car, but if its a heavier car the kdws will be better. for some reason on a heavy car, azenis tend to get greasy when they heat up, and they heat up FAST.

I've road raced on both so I can help a little.

The tread of the KDW will tend to fall apart much more so then the Azenis under serious load. The Azenis can take a serious beating and when they get greasy (from serious temp) they stay in one piece like you'd expect from an R-Comp. I've heard personally of people using KDW's that have somewhat failed or fallen fallen apart on the track more so then the average street tire. I believe this because I was throwing chunks of tire off mine more so then most street tires would do when you push them hard. They did not however, "fall apart" or "fail" like some claim. They performed extremely well, and were extremely predictable but not as fast as the RT-615.
In the rain it is different. The RT-615 is terrible. I will not ever buy this tire as my street tire because of it. Maybe it's my car, or my camber set up, or the fact that it was 45 degree's at Road A that day but my car CANNOT drive in the rain on these tires. I had no trouble reacing speeds of 120mph on the back straight on T1R's, Contact 2's, KDW's etc. in the rain. I could not go over 95 MPH on any part of the track without the car just lifting itself off the track in a hydroplaining nightmare. These tires werely nearly new and had only done 1 autocross. My nearly slick RA1's had more grip....
In terms of life on the STREET it's going to go to the KDW. You can easily get 18-23k with no burn outs or sliding around. I have only used Azenis' on the track (borrowed from a friend) but I predict based on my brothers and cosins car with the tire they will get 9-15k. On the track, like I said, the Azenis will last much longer.

If it were my street car i'd bet getting the KDW's, even though it's an old design. They stick well, are so predictable and last longer. Also, I have race tires so their inability to hold up on the track as well and slightly slower lap times isn't an issue for me. Plus they work in the rain and I still like to haul ass in the rain.

Just get the KDW 2's they're gonna last u longer, they are a good tire thats going to last and not fall apart. not saying the Falkens will fall apart, cuz i drive on them everyday but overall the KDW is the better tire for daily driving.
