You're an idiot. Honda manual transmission's can use anything from 5w20 to 10w40. Do not put gear oil or higher weight transmission fluid in a B series tranny.

As for going into reverse, try putting the shift lever into 4th gear first (do not release the clutch), then go into reverse. My GSR, civic, prelude, and CL type S 6 speed all did the same thing from time to time. I haven't had a honda that didn't do that.

and yes 10w30 is specified in the honda owners manal to use temp. if you can not use honda MTF.
