I feel like a lot of people might just be purchasing this car because they have high hopes for Hyundai and this "tuner" image when there are plenty of other platforms readily available for similar prices but are overlooked because of this obsessive new trend of owning a readily quick or upgradable Hyundai. I get a lot of "I can't wait to see their face when I smoke their *car here* in my Hyundai". C'mon we, Hyundai owners, have all felt it. Especially after Tokyo Drift's infamous Hyundai remark. (Funny cause it's appearing in FF4)
I'm sure the first year markups will be a joke. Look at the Genesis sedan, I saw a V6 one at Rick Case Hyundai, not fully loaded, for 41k. I can't even imagine what they'd want for the V8 model sedan. I'm not hating or anything but I think that this car is receiving more credit then it deserves simply because it's a Hyundai. The front end is ugly and looks cheap imo.
And no I will not feel stupid when I see fast Genesis Coupes running around. Seoulfulracing, NGM, and many others have proven that even the Delta (v6 tib/hyundai engine) and Beta (i4 tib/hyundai engine) platform can put out power, so there's no doubt the GC will put out if they have huge companies like HKS and such working on it.
I have a feeling i'm going to get flamed for this post but if I had to sum it up, I feel like this car isn't original enough on its own. It just looks like an idea taken from everything good in it's class and thrown into one vehicle. And as some may know I always complain about Hyundai's service and warranty.
What a free ride for Hyundai. Inviting people to destroy their own "America's Best Warranty". I seriously doubt ANYONE, since the target market are tuners, would be satisfied driving this thing stock unless it was the V6 but even so.“We’ve designed Genesis Coupe from the start to be tuner-friendly,” said John Krafcik
Also, there is no doubt in my mind that Hyundai must've spent massive amounts of cash convincing companies like HKS or companies like Universal Studios to try out or even feature the GC.They're trying to comfort the public and they're doing a damn good job. Hyundai = Marketing geniuses if you ask me.
Edit:
Oh and I drive a Tiburon
