Domestic manufactures do a very poor job of extracting the same amount of energy per liter of displacement as their foreign counter parts. My old AE86 Corolla made the same horsepower per liter as a Z06.
If Honda were to make a engine as big as the one found in a Z06, I assure you it would probably do filthy things to American egos. It's nothing personal. GM just isn't big on energy efficiency. Now don't get my wrong, I think a big rumbling V8 is hard to beat when it comes to that grab you by the balls kind of feel and sound. But a Fearrai, or still screams like an angry hot woman during sex, will run with a Corvette on the track, and will get you laid eight times as fast as a Corvette too. And don't forget about the 911 GT2, or anything from Ruf.

HP per Liter solely wins races now? A pushrod motor has a flatter torque curve, and makes more HP per pound.
But you might want to look down on BMW and Mercedes V12s and V10s too, since they have "less than stellar" HP/L. When I had my 240SX I used to hear people say what you said, and I disagreed then, and I do now.
