    Default built sohc zc vtec???

what would be the best route to go with a sohc vtec zc???? My girl wants to go all motor on this one and boost her 08 civic si....I also would like to see her single cam go all motor.....any ideas on a good setup for her???? What do u think the most hp she can make on pump gas and a mild setup.... Not too rough and at least not have super ****ty gas mileage???

P29 pistons, skunk2 manifold, LS throttle body, crower stage 2 cam, arp rod bolts, stiffer valve springs, adjustable cam gear, good header, get the whole bottom end balanced and get a good tune... I have seen all the way up to 180whp on a setup similar to this but you can expect anywhere from 150-160whp with an unmilled head... but you will be pumping 93 octane afterwards... I have done this build several times and it is a pretty nice setup... you will be surprised....

wow all that mods and only 180whp? Time and cash you put into that why not just get a engine swap? or Boost? Guess you want to be different. If you do it make a build up thread bout it.

I dont think a sohc will make 180whp.with that setup but It should be up there maybe 180 at the crank. But I doubt to the wheels

High compression and good flow is the key. If you can get that compression up to 12.5:1 -13.5:1, then you should be knocking on 180whp's door. BUT, that is considering you have the head ported and polished, and have the bottomend balanced and blueprinted.

Not to mention, the cam is going to have to be so big, that emissons would be the last of your concerns...

The best thing to do is put a smal turbo on it.

D series all motor, waste of time. An intake manifold, MILD Cam (most of the cam profiles suck), and a ok header might get you a 10 whp gain but highly unlikely.

The best thing you can do for a SOHC to make it feel good is a LIGHT flywheel and a closer geared transmission.

12.5:1 or 13.5:1, have a good time paying for race gas.

Compression isnt where the power is.

    buy a b16 then.

Most SOHCs dyno at 115-120whp if they are STRONG. its almost impossible to get to 150whp without going into the motor an getting crazy

He said she wanted to be different. If you did make 150whp with a single cam people would go .When you walk off on them and they ask what you have.I've seen quick sohc. One that was in a black ef on the southside used to run with gsrs.

Mini-me. No point in wasting any money on something you're going to upgrade later on.

I've gotten up to 109hp 115 tq on my d15 (in my '95 hatch) so far.. but w/ basic bolt-ons... still a surprisingly strong motor.. I would love to boost but I know I'm gonna open a can of worms I don't want to dig into yet
