Default My SAAB's Been Coming Along Nicely

I'm moving back to Atlanta soon and I can't wait to get back into things over there...haha, I missed you guys ya know? Anyway, I've been working on the SAAB some...I like that I have what seems to be the only modified SAAB in Houston. It's almost the case back in Atlanta too.

Here's what I've gotten so far.

There's a Taliaferro short-throw shift kit...throws weren't as short as I thought they'd be, but precision is up for sure. I don't care if it's a psychological justification for my spending money on it...haha I tore my center console apart and put it in myself dammit!

I've also got a Taliaferro 3 pt. subframe brace, but we didn't manage to install that yet because it's got rivets...or something. I don't know. If anyone could help me with this, or scope out a place that could do so...I'd really appreciate it.

This is what it's supposed to look like when installed. Whosever this is...he powder-coated it black. Mine's a chrome finish.

I put in the obligatory intake...haha. BSR intake with an AEM Dry Flow filter. The filter they included with my intake was garbage...it started melting around the bracket a couple hours after I put it in. Anyway, here's what it looks like. Forgive the dirtiness.

My brakes were also going bad so I used that as an excuse to get a set of Taliaferro slotted rotors. They work well and they look LOVELY. I've got ceramic pads in the front too.

Future plans...I'm looking into a Simons/BSR/Jetex exhaust, and when I can swing it, a 3 in. downpipe and the BSR PPC Reflash. I may or may not need a new clutch to hold up to that. In time though.

I also got window tints...but...haha, tints...whatever. As far as cosmetic work, I'd like to get my tail-lights darkened...not black, but just darkened a bit. With my tints and the black paint, the red of the tails stands out too much now. I'd also like to get my calipers painted red, and I'm thinking about getting the insides of the spokes of my wheels painted black...to accent the spokes a bit. I was thinking about getting new wheels altogether, but I really do like the factory ones on mine. If anyone could give me references to places that'll take care of that stuff, I'd really appreciate it! I know Superstar Customs takes care of some of that stuff...don't know exactly where to go for what though.

    Can't wait to get back!

Oh, and the car of course...for those who don't know.

Looking good Rahul. I like the brakes, cool design and they are slotted correctly, not all the way off the rotor.

SO when you come back, us 4doors will be hittin up Blood Mtn, correct?

What tires are you running bud?

I've seen the Eurospec bumper strips without the amber reflector...should look pretty sharp! I wouldn't mind darkening the side markers to go along with the darkened headlights. They stand out a bit too much now, like I said earlier. Should be good! By the way...Alvin. Hm...your username used to be slorsx or something right? You're a tattoo artist?

Super yes...not anonymous, but understated yet aggressive...yes. Haha thanks a lot man! I need to do some research before looking into turbo upgrades and such. Next order of business is a good exhaust system.

Lee and Simon, thanks a lot guys...can't wait to come back and show it off. haha. Mehul...let me get my subframe brace in before we head up to the mountains. My tires are going to need replacement soon too. Help me with a good set...I'm currently running Kumho Ecsta ASX tires. Not bad...nothing too special either though. They'll be down to the wear bars by the end of my drive...or at least damn close to it. My uncle recommended Continentals. I don't know much about it so I'm going to go do some reading. By the way...I don't think I've ever seen slots in a rotor that go all the way out.

I thought they'd sell the VRi's in your size. But they do sell the HRi's and the ZRi's in your size. If you wanted to go +1 size wider, there's always the option of 235/40R17. You can run the HRi's in that size, just as long as you don't plan on going no faster than 130mph. Unless you go for the ZRi's and you can go as fast as you want.

I thought the size of, well at least on my saab, the tire was a 225/45/17. Not many companies carry the 225/45/17. I have the Vector 17s on the Linear. I am wanting to repaint mine...thinking maybe a satin black and a new suspension...although I am having problems with the coolent system. I have to refill once sometimes 3 times daily. Just started overheating today.

To answer your question yes I do tattoos.

Do you drive hard daily? Would 400$ for a tire that will last you 2 years be good?

Ah haha...just making sure you were the same guy I was thinking of.

Hope you get that coolant issue fixed...maybe a leaking line?

I saw 225/50R17...will a wider tire fit with no problems? My car tops out at ~145 mph, but I hardly see speeds like that ever. Should be alright yea?

I don't rag my car out on a regular basis. I'm looking for All-Season tires...$100 each isn't bad at all. I saw a set of Continentals and Yokohamas that seemed pretty good.
