Default Type R motor what to do?

Im dropping a type R motor in my new civic and i wanna give it alittle more power but i dont care to do anything crazy to it. Im doing the usual headers, intake, exaust, dress ups, flywheel, upgrade the clutch, and do a good tune. but i was wondering if i up the injectors any if that would help at all? that and im not sure which would be better to do, either get a VAFC or just get an upgraded ECU. Like i said i dont wanna do anything to crazy to it cause im makeing this my daily driver and im trying to keep the AC and all in it. anywho if ya have any info and such please let me know. thanks.

leave the the vfac alone they are crap just get a chipped computer and tune it and call it quits. the injectors won't do a thing for performance either. if you want to some to give it a little extra kick pick some smaller cams that can be used with type r valve train and tune it.

yeah the mods you listed are about all you really need to be satisfied... but forget the injectors and vafc as already stated... also, look into a really good header like rage/hytech, because something like a DC sport won't be much of an upgrade from stock...

Yeah, as previously stated do the mods listed minus the injectors. Buy hondata s100 tune it and call it a day.

tryi-y header?? what ECU do you have? Yeah i just want alittle bit more then what i have.. but dont we all say that at one point or another?! Thanks guys for the imput. I wasnt sure if upping the injectors would actually do anything. ive heard mixed results on it. But if you guys have any other suggestions please let me know. And i'll hopefully have the car up and running by the end of july so i can bring it to atlanta.

Header that is proven to make 10whp just by bolting it on

    http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/...d.php?t=171361

ECU wise i have OBD1 CROME ECUs that you can tune with. If you have an OBD1 ecu already then i can chip it

i dont know what model civic u have but if it's a EX, just get the stock ECU(p28) and get it chipped with a temporary basemap until u can go get a dyno tune, unless u plan on leaving your car for them to do everything, or if u dont have one u can always purchase an ECU already chipped, they go for an average of $180-$200. What i would do first is buy the baller headers from MR.KIDD before he runs out!! . save up more money and get a set of stage 1 cams, (PRO1's from skunk2,buddy club +3, dont get cheap shiet cuz most likely they'll give u less power than your stock type-r cams.

    tryi-y header + PRO1's + dyno tune= satisfaction guaranteed......

Dude you guys are F**K*N AWSOME!! PM me and lemme know how much they run for. I was thinkin of just chipping it Instead of hondata. It sounds cheaper and has the same eficiency. But yeah its just an 00 Civic EX. With getting stage one cams i dont have to do head work will i? Like i said i dont wanna spend ubber amounts on money on the motor considering its my daily. i just wanna make it alittle bit more then it already has and make it look decent. Im going to track down a del sol to do my fun stuff with! But thanks for the GREAT imput guys.. and please keep them coming!

the most expensive thing they have said is cams and tune .... be prepared to spend 3-400 on the tune and 300-500 on a set of new cams ...... g/l and enjoy the Type r motor .... heard its real fun .

you dolnt really need cams, the ITR cams are fine, they can support 190-195whp easily with the mods i listed.

The stock OEM head runs out of flow at that HP level so there isnt any reason to go with bigger cams IMO

what i was just about to say.

if you start trying to mak more than that you needs to start helping airflow into the engine.

and when the hell did pro 1's become stage one cams like bc 3's lol

    rage tri y header
    full 2.5 inch exhaust
    adjustible cam gears
some small cams i.e. toda a's skunk old stg1's bc3's etc.etc use stock valve train
chipped p28 tuned on the dyno
short ram intake with a bpi stack

should put you at around 185 190 whp with a really good tune. that should be enough to make the car fun to drive and keep it reliable. end of story

I'll quote and repeat. Don't touch it. You'll be more than satisfied coming from a single cam. If anything, before the motor goes in, put a new clutch in it.

So far i have on it Intake, Light weight pulleys, fuel rail, FPR, NGK plugs and wires, Exaust, and normal dress up stuff. Im planning on putting on cam gears, Cams, Headers, Light weight fly wheel, new clutch, maybe if needed, springs and retainers, engine damper kit, MSD, and some other things to help it Just want alittle more power with nothing serious involved.. I was wondering if i uped my intake manafold if that would help at all? any ideas or suggestions on that one? and im thinkin of an LSD tranny... not sure yet.

Shane do you really understand what a Type R motor is? Its a Beefed up GSR an Honda did great things to it to make it what it is leave it alone unless your going to spend thousands to make everything forged an boosting it...N/A its built great already as it sits..Many people would kill to have your cams an valve springs for there Gsr an B16 so leave it be..I think all you need is a Good header an a Great Tune an it will make more power then all those silly add ons you got.

Yeah i guess i have to say tom H is to blame on this one! I dont know if he still has it but when he had his Silver Hatch with the type R in it i fell in love with it! and now that i have the chance to do it it and just put alittle bit more in the coupe i decided i'll try it! Plus i didnt want anything major in there cause it is going to be my daily driver. if figured this would be perfect.

    Agreed!

    Check List:
    Intake
    Good Header
    Exhaust
    Chipped p28 ecu
    Tuned
    Adjustable cam gears
    exxedy stage 1 clutch
    99-00 SI anti-roll mount (driver side) for a/c w/ b-series

Just like Mr Kidd stated, don't put the cams in there it would be a waste of money same with the hondata!

Your looking to get around 200 whp which is tons of fun in a civic!
