    ALOT OF WORK.

honestly, if they share the same block casting and characteristics of a TT Z, then i would prob bet the cost of getting a NA to make that would be arond the same as boosting it.

i think NA Zs make around 200whp maybe? your looking at 70-80whp, thats alot of work.

222 flyhwheel so around 185-190 area. actually 270hp to the fly isnt hard. to the wheels wil require some dollars. a visit to www.300zxclub.com can help. as they have a complete stage list for the tt and n/a. and z1motorsports.com can help u with that. give em a call. they r located in villa rica. or PM fawk_you and she can get u in touch.

    found it for ya:
    Stage 1, Pop Charger/UD pulley
    Stage 2, ECU (SGP)
Stage 3, Exhaust (ALC for auto's)
    Stage 4, Headers
    Stage 5, TB's w/ matched intake
Stage 6, Fuel Injectors/JWT NOS system
Stage 7, SGP Head package w/ 5 angle valve job
More mod's exist of course, but here SGP puts the N/A at 420 w/ NOS...
since they're including NOS...I would imagine thats about 340 at the flywheel.

What does everyone else think? Sound too optimistic?
They do have a customer who has a convertible N/A run a 12.97 1/4 at full weight w/ auto.

I personally would like to see about 220 rwhp + 75 shot NOS, before I go turbo...that would be a nice progression!
IMO save up 6k and swap in a dett. u do have a z32 right?

Why might I ask? Getting an extra 50hp out of the vg30det seems to be kinda pointless...headers, exhaust, intake manifold & head work, etc. and you're probably looking at a few grand...or put that money to better tires and maybe a new rear end, cf driveshaft, lightened flywheel, etc. and you'll be just as fast.

OR just contact Russel at Z1 (http://www.300zx.com) and see what a VG30DETT swap will run.

another good source for info is http://www.twinturbo.net

the swap is roughly 6k. i believe the z1 site has a FAQ guide for the swap. but i agree, extra hp out of a de is waste of money.

are you tryin to build an n/a or do you own an n/a and think it cost too much to turbo it? nadauto has a pair of fairlady front cuts for less than $2500 a piece.

you can but a throttle body from a ka24e motor (88-91 nissan 240sx) which will add hp and get headers and i think put on an intake from a ka24e. but the throttle body will definatly work beacuse it is almost 1cm more in diameter compared to the stock 300zx throttle body.

Why would you do that when you could "but" a Q45 throttle body?

PS, good job bumping an old thread

Whatta noob, VG30DE has 2 TBs

For those of you asking, I just did a bunch of research. the ballpark figure to get a 5spd N/A to a 5spd TT, tuned and doing a little better than factory TT is around $9000 drive out (by Z1 motorsports, but i wouldnt take mine to anyone else anyway) As far as the block goes, everything is ALMOST the same, theres a couple different things going on in the block as far as pistons, cams, oil squirter positions.

They charge an arm and a leg though. Z1 is nice but expensive. They also do swaps everyday so I mean you get what you pay for. As for how much a swap can cost I can get a tt 300zx right now for 3K but it has an engine knock. Now as I see it you buy that car take the engine out and rebuild it and you have roughly $4500 invested. Ok well put the tt in my Z and ut my NA in the shell of the other car. Then sell the NA car for $4500 (which is resonable) and there ta go. Close to free TT for my Z. I just dont have the time for that kind of thing nor do I have funds. It would work though. Might end up spending a few grand out of pocket for tuning and parts. But in the long run you have a tt engine with 0 miles on it for the low low. Also a few grand is always better than 9K.
