if you're under 21 thats automatic suspension 6mo+. If you're over 21, you might have a chance of getting it suspended for 4 months + probation unless you have some money then you probably wont get the probation, but you'll still get your license suspended anyways.
My bf and his friends got caught racing a while back..the police was on the other side of the road.. but he said he saw us so we went along with it. My bf pleaded guilty and got 4 months suspension while his friends took it to state court and now both of them lost their license(s) and they both have community service and probation.
- If your car was really worth beating that is300.. then you really should've took it to the track. Now the both of you wont be able to drive that 'fast car' anymore.

Ok, here's some advice i'll tell you from real-life past experiences i've had and comparing it to yours...Originally Posted by xs042

*Racing ticket = 6pts, automatic license suspension no matter what age you are
----The ticket should be around $500.00
*Speeding fines = 6pts

*Reckless Driving = 4pts
---$1000
Note: This above was all charged from Braselton.
My advice,
You should've never admitted to anything and kept quiet like I did in my past experience. Act polite no matter what and try to keep talking back to the officer only when necessary. Don't street race anymore; keep it @ the dragway. Eventually every street racer will get pulled over at one point in time...no matter how smart you think you are.
*Get a lawyer; I only paid $750 for mines because my lawyer didn't have any experience doing my kind of case; he was all *DUI* only, he had thought it was a piece of CAKE.When you get one, don't lie to him/her, it'll just make it worser if you tried. Not that I lied but some lawyers will try and be aggressive and make you spill the beans before hiring him/her. You'll need at least a week ahead of your court date for your lawyer to work out your case for you. Lawyers can take a lump sum of their payment from you at the 1st appointment and take the rest of your payment a few weeks later; that's the best they can do. I've had one asking for $3500; I said HELL NO! $1500 is a reasonable price my friend... You can start by searching Georgia Traffic Lawyers or if you have the money; go to Prepaid legal services, they have a very large office and alot of people & experiences. In the end, the lawyer will have a negotiation to reduce your speed or get rid of racing; it's all in the hands of how good your lawyer is...
*Go complete the Defensive driving course online; it's about $34 before shipping your certificate. Very convenient and helpful for you. And do some community service as much as you can before your court date to show the judge that you were sorry for what you did. Go with Redcross/Atlanta chapter or whatever community you would like to serve.
*You'll have a choice of relocating your case to a different jurisdiction of your choice if you are not satisfied with your case results in your current jurisdiction. But there is a 50/50 risk the next jurisdiction will not guarantee a better result or even worser. If you can drop *racing*; just get it over with my friend. You will have to plea guilty and pray the judge agrees with you/your lawyers negotiation. All you have to say in front of the judge is No, your honor & yes, your honor. Nothing else unless you have questions for him/her.
*Also get a copy of your driving record from your local DMV for about $8 for your past 7yrs of driving. The lawyer will need all your info on the 1st meet.
My conclusion from helping you out;
I was treated far worser when I used to have a thread up but in the end all the people that really gave me advice boosted my confidence up and I was fine in the end. I give you props for posting up and we all learn our lessons at some point. I'm not just helping you out here but this post will give other(s) out there factual advice and opinions on what to expect when it's their turn to face the consequences in the future. Hope I helped you out alot there my friend.
P.S Now, where's my REPS PEOPLE!!![]()
I'd definately get a lawyer because ive been in a similar boat before. I would say you wouold get off with it if you or that other guy hadnt said anything about "winning". A cops camera usually only records (onto their little databank thing) after their flashing lights are turned on (thats what numerous lawyers have told me) but he has all of the audio when talking to you no doubt.
license = gone
money = really gone
you & friend = royal dumbass
been there bro..... $1,200 and six months no liscence....
My street racing fine was $660, we tried to fight it when we werent even guilty, and still lost. just pay it.
lol @ your failure.
and 6800 in 4th isn't speeding? Hell, 6800 in 2nd is speeding in most places in my car, and it's a stock 2g DSM

Yep you f..ked up by saying what you did, you admited to racing.
Genius here is getting upset because he incriminated himself. It is what it is. When he asked why he pulled ya'll over, you should've looked at him like he was stupid. But you were stupid enough to say "Because we were pulling on each other..." and your buddy was even dumb enough to mention that you won the race. Guess who wins this one (clue; it isn't you nor the other guy)?Originally Posted by xs042

Keep your mouth shut and let your lawyer do the talking. Find a traffic lawyer that has dealt with cases like yours in the past and knows the courts (the county you will be tried in).

OK for the record half the people that have replyed to my tread have no idea what so ever about what is going on.. and secondly the people that are trying to make " nice judgment calls" and " Baller status points" to make me feel like a dumb ass, obviously cant comprehend what has been said..
i drive a "s14 vct sr" S13 with 2871 and pwr FC. ( NOT A SUBARU ) < previous car..... ****ing dumb ass..
and It clearly says****"3rd"*** gear at 6k which at max is 75mph.. which is 10 over the 65mph speed limit.. wohh peeee sa fast right?? wow
my final say in this thread is "**** Haters" and i'm going to fight it with no lawyer.! hows that chaff ur asses ****ers.. holly jesus IA haters are awesome i think im going to adopt a couple as house pets.. ( i know i cant spell) so Eat it!
for all of those who threw in help full info, "about 4%" thank you![]()
Wow. You really expect to post a thread on this site and not get a bunch of smartass and spiteful comments thrown in with the useful stuff?
It would be in your best interest to get a lawyer, based on what you've told us occurred.
Let us know what happens with your court date. It would be too sad to not hear updates on how you lost your license.
Good luck.

P.S. TRUST ME! Your gonna need a lawyer for this one. It don't matter if you weren't incredibly speeding...Once your charged with racing; that's automatic license suspension for a year and skyrocketing insurance rates for you for a long time. I know you can't afford to lose your license; who can? Carpooling sucks, not driving sucks enough, not being able to get a workers permit will suck even more. I'd rather pay the lawyers fee and be safe then sorry. Ask all the lawyers around to see what they can do for you best! Don't rely on the court solicitors; their on the courts side, not yours. Good luck once again!
Nobody wants to fawk with the law; that's some serious shietttt!

hes got nothing on you.
by the way ypi cam have 16 points on your license if your over 21, not 18, just thought you shuold be prepared for that. you only get 4 when you are under 21
HF
Good luck with that one. If you go into that court room w/ no council, the judge will throw the book at you. Cause in the end, the judge has a family, and when he hears you and some other dumbass was racing and potentially endangering other peoples lives who could possibly be HIS family, hes gonna do everything he can to stop you from doing it again.Originally Posted by xs042
Now, grow some balls and fork out the $1000+ you're gonna need to keep your license. You're LUCKY he didnt take you to jail. thats where I went when i got caught doing that ****. Never did it again. I didnt even get a chance to explain...and you TOLD THE COPS you were racing??? mmm mmm mmm. To all those people btw who said "Dont lie, just tell the truth" theres a difference between lying and not saying anything, which is what you were supposed to do in that situation
Not only does you spelling prowess would make a blind man cringe, your math skills need some brushing up. You said half the people that commented..... That would be 50%. That would leave the other 50% left helpful comments. So how do you figure the 4%? What you should do is not worry so much about driving for a while. Just register back in school, 2nd grade should be a good starting point after seeing your posts, and concentrate on making yourself a smarter, better person. They even have these big, yellow school buses to take you back and forth so you won't have to worry about being "mistaken" for racing. Later, QD.Originally Posted by xs042

Now, IMO either way it looks like you're going to pay out the a$$. So, you may want to take the defensive driving class beforehand. It probably will cost about $75. But you can show it to your insurance company and they may give you a discount (which your rates are about to go sky high after this because they will find out about your "racing"). Also, I wouldn't waste my money on a lawyer. That's money you should be saving towards your fines. Bite the bullet and if you really feel remorseful, prove it to the judge.

its a year suspension. Unless u can find a badass lawer. I got a speeding ticket for 28over(it was bs there was no way in hell i was going that fast) and couldn't get a lawer and lost my **** for 6 months. Had to pay 2xx ticket fine(after it was reduced wit my Defensive driving) and i gotta pay 210 to get my license reinstated. My 6 months was up on the 14th and i dont have the 210 to get my **** back..... it sucks. I really wanna cry...
But you can only get 4points if ur under 21. Take Defensive driving. Even if you lose your license ur fine will be reduced some.

Please don't post blatantly false information as advice to this kid. He needs to man up, tell his parents that he ****ed up, they obviously have money. Once he does that he can get a decent lawyer and try to keep his liscense. The Lawyer isn't going to fight based on a fifth amendment violation. We have the right not to incriminate ourselves, which he CLEARLY and OBVIOUSLY waived by replying to the question the officer asked. Admission of Guilt was OBVIOUS when the police officer presented the statement, and considering he was not detained but was stopped for a traffic violation observed by the officer, there is no neccessity to have read his Miranda rights prior to asking the question.Originally Posted by singsifu
In the case of Miranda, Stops are usually an exception due to the nature of the situation. The Officer asked an open-ended question without requiring an answer of it. This is the same as a police officer walking up to you as you're coming out of a jewelry store with full bag of watches and asking you "Do you know why I'm stopping you today son?" and you replying "Oh yes sir, it's that Jewelry store I just robbed." At that point, the reason why he actually stopped you is only relevant in the sense of probable cause for having initiated the stop in the first place. Traffic violations have always been considered probable cause. In other words, the admission should stand in court because it was clearly voluntary AND obvious that it was an uncoerced admission of a crime.
get a lawyer, or have fun losing your license

Please tell me what type of car you drive, so if I ever see you wrapped around a tree, with half your head gone, I can just laugh and pass by. I mean, if one of your best friends died in a car crash tomorrow, you shouldn't worry. You can just replace them with a new one from the store, right? Maybe you could just press the rewind button, and tell them beforehand, if you cared about them that much.Too bad you didn't pay with your life. Dumbass. Leave the "pull" shiit at the track. Later, QD.![]()
The best part is, if he supplied correct information on the first post, they were not even speeding. I can see what you mean by someone needing a serious "knock" in the brain if they were going 120mph down the highway in traffic, or even in an isolated setting, but they were not even speeding. Just horsing around(Legal Speed Limit). I could downshift and pull in my car two-hundred times next to you on a highway and you wouldn't even notice. It's just those damn exhausts and high RPMs(Boosted I-6... lol, I'm sure the exhaust is quiet, especially since a seventeen year old who doesn't know what it means to shift below redline drives it). Not a good mix.![]()
(All information I supplied is based on basically the first page of this thread, I can't read the second page because the school computer blocks it, and I'm too lazy to read the rest of the pages. So, if he restated and said he actually was speeding or something, after the first page, I didn't read it.)
Anyhow, maybe if the IS kid actually had an interior and a sunroof like a normal IS300, then the cop would of just cried, and left.![]()
