Default who would you guys recommend for a tune?

Looking for some input from you guys on where I should take my car to get it "tuned"...
Its an 06 civic SI, but since we have no offerings from hondata yet i am stuck with the emanage ultimate, so it needs to be somebody very familiar with this simple platform...

the only thing with the emanage on my platform is that its basically limited to fuel and ignition adjustments, so it would be a fairly straight foward tune for someone who knew what they were doing to pull the most potential outta this kit via emanage ultimate.

Because it is sooo very limited I cant see it taking very very long either, what are some of these shops rates per hour on the dyno around atl?

thanks in advance for your input

Mainstream has been $140 an hour for at least 4 years

Balanced has always been $150/hour for as long as i can remember

Batlground has been $130-140 an hour for as long as i can remember

Topspeed is $160 for AWD an i think $140 for 2wd

125 hour may have been 5+ years ago, or its for an AFC which is always cheaper than a fuel or ignition computer.

Steve Petty from Proline in Ackworth

Listen @ 3.20 when they mention Mr Petty on Vid 1
Steve along with Tim Lynch have set numerous records with their Outlaw 10.5 car. Steve is the key element in the tuning and setup of their record setting twin turbo combination. He is well known across the racing world for his knowledge with turbo engines and the ultimate combination for record setting performances.

you get what you pay for... BTW, if you have a Civic, I would just wait for Hondata Kpro to come out and don't bother wasting your money on tuning the e-manage.. Are you running the Greddy Turbo kit with your SI?

LOL....do you have any idea what it cost to have petty tune your car?

We aren't talking about tuning a 200k dollar racecar here.

The other tuners are pretty good too, but I would probably choose Ed for his Honda knowledge. I've seen and heard power extracted more with his tuning... no offense to the others. Negative side to him is the waiting list, unless you got inside connections.

did he pay for the part throttle tuning because usually thats not standard?

Scotty with Main Stream won't let a car leave without part throttle tuning before hand unless the customer insist, it's just a lot better on both parties. Take it to Scotty. He tunes all of my setups and always does it just how i want it. As far as prices, don't like it? ...tune it yourself and see how far you get.

Which car was that? I'm going to assume he brought the car in with problems...and he probably didn't want to pay to get them fixed.

I'm currently booking Dans tuning schedule about a month out...so he must be pretty good or at least he has tricked everyone for the last 7 years into thinking he is good.

H&M has a 650whp Honda on our dyno right now that they thought Dan was good enough to tune. TK Motorsports just left with a 600whp SRT4 that they seemed to be happy with, I wish I had time to post every high hp tune that Dan does...but honestly we are to busy for that.

I'm sure tuning Chrome is some art that Dan just hasn't mastered yet....I mean there were 8 cars in the shop last night when I left and 7 of them had AEMs in them....Ill have to see if I can get him some help with the chipped ECUs

I'm not trying to be a smart ass or a ****, I just want people to understand that every story you hear on the net isn't always true.

If anyone would like to to get tuned we are open 5 days a week M-F, I answer the phone every time it rings unless I'm on the other line or out of the office, you will always get me. Ill be happy to discuss your need with you. We do all that is reasonable to help our customers out. We do our best to make our customers tuning experience a memorable one.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me as I don't get to check the forums that often.

Thanks and I hope we get a chance to earn your business.

    Matt

exactly scotty does it all in one and it took them 2 and half hours and it still breaks up on full throttle.

It was the k24/k20 boosted hatch that made 409whp and 322 on 12lbs. He had no issues at all his first tune. The he came back for part throttle and to touch up some things on top end and all Dan did was try and fix the top end. Not saying Dan is a bad tuner but he needs to stick to other cars other then honda's cause it a whole different game tuning them

That car had mechanical boost creep. We did not build the car, so we can't be responsible for mechanical boost creep. No amount of tuning will take away boost creep. Your car was on the dyno for two hours and Dan gave you a discount off of the normal 140 an hour. Normally if a car is on the dyno its 140 hour even if we are fixing mechanical problems. We generally have two tuning appointments a day so if we can't tune a car because another one is having problems then its costing us money.

Like I said at the shop I'm sorry your car has problems, we are more than willing to fix them for you but its not going to be for free, this isn't a hobby to us its work....mind you it is work we enjoy but at the end of the day it still has to pay the mortgage.

If you feel like you were done wrong you are more than welcome to call me at the shop and discuss it.

HAHAHA This is the funiest thing i seen all day. What does part throttle tuning half to do with boost creep. 8 outta 10 your not in boost while loping around town or on the highway

You didn't want to pay for the two hours of tuning you got, If you would like to stop back by Ill be happy to have Dan put it on the dyno for another hour and tune the part throttle. It won't be free though.
