    Default MR2 Quetion

I just sold my S14 on Wednesday and now looking at a MR2. The guy that is selling it said the belt that drives the A/C is not on there. He doesn't know much about the car so when I asked about the power steering he said he could't tell if the same belt powered the steeering also. Now my question is does this belt power anything else besides the A/C.

There is only 1 belt for the AC. From the AC to the crankshaft is 1 belt and the crankshaft to alternator is a seperate belt.

The power steering pump in the MR2 is electric and is located in the front under the hood, not in the engine compartment.

Ok thanks you. Can you tell me some things to look at on the car before I buy? I've been reading on MR2 forums like crazy these last couple days.

I'd take the car to a shop that works specifically on MR2s to check it out for you. They shouldn't charge a lot just to check the car out and the owner shouldn't have a problem w/ you getting the car checked out by a certified technician. Holla at Tiger Racing or R2B2 Motors. Both of these shops work on a lot of local MR2s.

If the owner has a problem w/ you having them check the car out I wouldn't buy it. Have him/her meet you at the shop w/ the car. Then if it checks out pay them and call it a day.

Ya I planned on taking it to Toyota since I don't know any of the shops down in Orlando Florida.

i dont really think the techs at toyota will know what they are doing when they recieve a 15 year old car with that rarity.

You should check for computer codes though. bring a unfolded paper clip. and stick the ends in the diagnosis box in terminals TE1 and E1, if the CEL flashes constantly about every 1/4 a second, then there are no codes.
