I've heard nothing but good thinking about cryo treating engine parts and plan on doing mine as well as transmission parts but I was wondering are their any downsides to doing this process or concerns I should look for????

And cryo treating is often used in the diesel truck sled pulling world, from what I've read it has its positives and negatives in regular gas cars. I'm sure you can google it like Ant said and get all the info you could ever need.
Lurking a little. Its getting better, 80% of the strength and 100% of the movement back in my knee, shoulders not giving problems now. Trying to get the truck back to 100% to make it out to some meets. How long till I can see the Stang run in the 1320?Originally Posted by AnthonyF
no harm intended its just hard because i ask decent question its not like im asking " what better turbo or supercharger" or some of the other crazy questions i hear, I just always get someone saying "search". i do search but sometimes when you search they give you every answer but the one you want if anyone can understand. But as a man i can say my bad i just got fruistrated cause i was looking for some help and a simple answer.

Didn't really read through them too much, but may have what your looking for.
you really dont need the cryo if you but good quality parts. but seeing that its a honda you might need all the help you can get.

BUY MY HATCH <--click the link, cuz.
depends. would you try to push your car to XXX amount of HP? are you going to install some extremely crazy turbo and push XXXpsi?
Its good stuff. I too researched the topic and know a few people who cryoed parts.Originally Posted by hybrid90accord
You don't just have to cryo engine and tranny parts, but any part that faces high stress can be cryoed. One of the things they do often in road racing is cryo the brake rotors. Reduces warping and the rotors last longer throughout the race.
You can cryo spark plugs, cyl heads, valve springs etc. All help very much. Myself,I was thinking of having my rods, pistons and head cryoed to toughen them up.
From the people I've spoken with, supposedly if you build a balanced block, you'll want to have it balanced, do any cutting or shot peening etc before the cryo treatment. I found a place that charges $8 a part. Dunno if thats a good deal, but I too would like to see more research done.
My car is factory....
Every single performance part and or modification it has was made in a factory somewhere.

i lol at the cryo stuff. for people on the street you wont need anything like cryo treating a part if you just us good parts and have it put together by someone that knows what they are doing. the amount of money you spend vs what you get is not worth it. plus no one really knows how much it would help on good quality parts seeing that people rarely break forged rods like eagle or pauter. now what your really should be looking into is coatings like for the side skirts of the pistons and ceramic coatings for the pistons tops and cylinder head combustion cambers and exhaust valves. but you wont need those either unless you got some money and plain on having the motor but by a professional engine builder for the type of motor being a b series VQ SR K series or what have you and plain on having it last for a long time under extreme conditions i.e. track... like a road race track not strip.Originally Posted by superboost

its not gonna be a daily driver i wanna get the most out of my h22. Money isnt really the issue i just wanna take as many precaution the first time to get everything done right so i wont have the "should have could have" syndrome. longevity is an issue but with the power goal in mind i know that isnt to pratical but anything that can be done to help my parts last a little longer im willing to invest in i just wanted to know if their were any negative side effects to the process, ive heard many street/strip v8's do it alot even with forged internals

i got what you said about doing it right. and cyro is not needed if you just by quality parts that are known to work well and have it done by someone that has done hundreds... not a few but hundreds of builds like yours.Originally Posted by hybrid90accord

amazing... what is your true purpose in cryo treating something? i mean are you TRULY going to achieve ULTRA horsepower? i mean look @ the very few hondas on here that are in the 500+ hp range... now my vtec speak might be a little rusty but i almost NEVER EVER remember reading someones mods list and seeing the words -cryotreated XXXXXX-
i believe its a waste of time for your street machine, buy GOOD quality parts and you'll never have issues as long as you do it right the first time!
the jdm has spoken!
quality parts and put together by someone who knows what they are doing and has done it a few hundred times. and not by joe shmo in his back yard that deals with domestics and says he can do a honda.Originally Posted by PURE jdm
