Well when you are "fully capable" of knowing what I was trying to say and then you turned it into me talking to you as if we were family (which is strange), then that's what I would call twisting.

Valid Point #1: Name calling when she hasn't disrespected you in any way on this thread.

But dude, I'm tired and have to wake up in the morning and play soldier for another week, so I will continue tomorrow. Later, TChill.

I will give you partial nix on my current "Valid" Point #1. She did bring it upon herself for that subject to be opened back up. But she did not ask for the disrespect. So I will changed my "Valid" Point #1 to- Respect/Disrespect.

    Default Quasi-Bash...but proper Grammar

    Ok,

Having read through all the posts on this thread I have a couple questions and comments for the parties involved. First, I can respect wanting to modify a Honda (be it a Del Sol, Civic, Accord...Whatever) but does anyone modify a car with practicality in mind? I see Civics with large spoilers in the back, scoops on the fenders leading nowhere, glue on hood scoops, racing stripes, lowering kits, and a whole range on other bolt on accessories. The thing is, none of this seems to improve the cars performance. I can respect this is done for aesthetics, what you do to your car is your business. However, there is a disconnect I have found with this general idea. Most of the body kits I have seen are usually some other color than the car (specifically, shades of grey primer). Why do you people spend the money on a body kit and not have it match the car. If money is the arguement, then do something you can afford. I always love when I see one of these cars parked way off in the distance in a supermarket parking lot, as if there is something to protect... Anyhow, I digress...

Secondly, Who convinced those of you in Civic land that Front wheel drive cars make good drag cars? Simple physics shows that as a car accelerates forward the weight is distributed to the rear wheels and off the front wheels. Seems counterproductive to take weight off your drive wheels, seeing how they are kinda important in drag racing. Do us all a favor and keep your front wheel drive cars off the strip and where they belong, on public streets, in bumper to bumper traffic, getting their occupants from point A to point B.

On to responding to this thread. In response/defense for Footefan52, you in ricer nation should look into vintage cars, either for ideas or at least a grounding point before you think your civic with exhaust is anything more that a noisy daily driver. Case and point, the original badass front wheel drive car was the Mini Cooper S. Not the shameful BMW built version, but the real British version. These cars had at best 75hp from the factory and they are a blast to drive. Very simple notion, shed weight and you don’t need so much power. Less power puts less strain on the internal bits of the engine, which means the engines just did not wear out. Most importantly, these cars were LIGHT (A place where cars today have lost their way). Sorry for the tangent, but to sum up this section, there have been a lot of decent FWD cars, but none have been anything more than simple family cars.

Onto the bashing, which part of swapping a 1.8L for a 2.0L makes you feel good about yourselves? This is a complete and utter waste of time and resources. There have been lots of powerful under 2 Liter engines (Look up Alfa Romeo 1.6L, Lola T-210, Porsche 914, Lotus Elan/Europe, Coventry Climax). All of these motors were used in racing and they all do something Civic motors do not. They Rev. You want to make your Honda go, start on the inside. Cams, headwork, higher compression, and lighter internals are what make good motors. If you can’t afford/are not smart enough for this, then you can try headers and intake. Headers make power, 4in exhaust tips do not. They add sound, but sound does not make you fast, it makes you annoying.

In conclusion, everyone who owns a Civic should accept they have a reliable car that should be left alone. You want performance, buy a car that was designed be someone what know what the hell they are doing. I think they call those people engineers… Bolting on fancy wheels, changing headlights/taillights, adding an exhaust tip, tinting your windows, buying a body kit, revving at traffic lights; these things do not make you a car guy, they make you a fool (more specifically a fool that keeps Nopi and Pepboys in business). I know this post is a bit long, but for those who made it through, I would like you reply so I can better understand what drives you to these mediocre cars. Please be considerate and use proper grammar and spelling (unlike most on the incoherent, hateful drivel on this site)

    SAY WHAT!!!!!

There are many 4cyl drag cars that would put many other drag cars to shame! Phuck physics!!!

P.S. No I'm not making my car into a drag car so that's not the reason of this response.

See, you have it all wrong already. I did not specify 4 cylinder cars, my arguement was against FWD cars. As far as your dislike of physics, I can't help you. Want a good example of a dynamically good car for drag racing, Ariel Atom.

True. My fault on that one.

But, not everyone that has the urge to drag race need to have a RWD or one of those fancy English Ariel Atom's, or any other car that pre-built to be the fastest thing on earth. For one that car is probably extremely expensive. Two probably a good 48% of the people that drag race didn't have the money right away to say, "Hey lets go throw our thousands of dollars in and build this amazing race car." No, they had to work their ass off and build what they could and what they wanted. Two, That thing isn't even street legal (for those who like to have street legal drag cars.)

Their are many FWD cars out there that are monsters on the dragway, and for you to say screw them is out of this world. Why stick with one way of doing things? Is all wheel drive cars half wrong for drag racing?

Even DOMESTIC RWD producing companys have FWD drag cars. Like Pontiac and Chevy. Are wrong too? Come on man. I can understand bashing Civic, but all FWD cars.

he wasn't bashing all FWD cars, just stating they aren't drag cars which is true

I am not questioning the intent of people that build drag cars from home. As for the Atom, it is very much street legal. Also, for the money that is spent on a FACTORY BACKED (Very important detail) FWD Drag cars such as the Pontiac and Chevy, you could buy a fleet of Atoms. All wheel drive cars would be good for drag racing, but weight has always been a problem for AWD Cars. Just because Domestic companies are making FWD drag cars does not mean they are good for drag racing. They exist purely because there is a class for them to be in. If there was a Rear engine, Front wheel drive class, I am postive GM would have a Car ready to go.
