Default Should i let Carmax buy my car??

Is it worth it to attempt to let Carmax value and/or purchase my car if its got some aftermarket activity goin on with it?? Or, should i try to return as much of it as i can to OEM spec??

Im HOPING to get about $1,000.00 max from a 96 Sunfire. Does that sound about right or am i being too optimistic?

(im tryin to get my hands on a HONDA... )

It costs you a couple bucks in gas to drive your ass up there and have them aapraise it/make you an offer...what do you have to lose?

Well, i guess nothing, but what i was asking is if you all think that $1000 sounds like a good possible estimate of what they may give?

Depends on the condition. Sunfires do depreciate in value pretty fast though. The kbb on a mint '99 sunfire coupe se is only around $3k. I personally would probably look up the cars selling on kbb, auto trader, and maybe even carfax to get an idea of what cars like yours are selling for in your area. This will give you a better idea of the street value of your car and see which route you would rather go. This of course is just my opinion.

seeing as how i work for them, if all your wanting is a grand for it, and its in good condition, you should get a bit more than your price. its very rare that they give people less than a grand for their car, which is if the thing doesnt run and is a complete piece of ****! plus before you take it up there make sure you clean it, the better the car looks when they appraise it the more you get for it!

the steps you take directly reflects the time you have to spend on it.

I would List it on CL or Autotrader and ask a little under the accurate kbb.

if those fail then Carmax it.

well, lets see...i won't be goin the carmax route, cuz they gave me such a small value for the car that its way beyond insult, and its way beyond laughing at...lol....

And, the car has been on Craigslist for +-a couple weeks now....no calls yet though...

    guess ill try Autotrader next.

check engine light, cosmetic issues, not a high value car, and no interior, kind ameans there not going to offer you much for the car.

Try AutoTrader. I tried selling an Integra on Craigslist for about 2 or 3 weeks and got no calls. Then I put it on AutoTrader and sold it by the end of the week.

you will most likely be able 2 get a lot more selling it on craigslist than you would taking it to carmax. They never give u as much as its worth.

With a car that low-valued, you'ld be better off DDing it and saving up for a side project car. Since you mentioned you wanted a Honda, go with a cheaper EG or EF.

If you dont want two cars...you may just have to sell a turd for the price of a turd... You may not be able to get a Honda purely from your profits though.

Ebay that *****! You should get a grand for it on there.

+1 with R32 Dragon though, I would DD it since the value is so low and get a project. Sunfire's are pretty decent lasting cars, You should just keep it to be a daily ****box if your at all planning on building a project car
