    Default Blow off valve vaccum question

    Is a blow off valve supposed to stay open under vaccum(I.E. at motor idle) I have upgraded the spring and I still am having idle problems. I need this bastard to stay closed until I lift off of the gas. This is pissing me off and I am running out of ideas. some one please help.

    The system I have on this car is a "closed loop system" meaning that it is metering the air before the throttle body. any air escaping makes the car try to replace it. hence the rough idle.

    What kind of car?
    Have you 100% isolated the idle issue to the BOV?
    Also did you make sure the actual BOV valve is not just stuck in the open position?
    How does it run with Vacuum line out?

    what kind of blow off valve? some are known for leaking.

    sounds like you really just need to replace your bov to me at idle it should be closed

    you could put the MAF Sensor on the intake side of the turbo and recirculate the BOV....

    A Merkur XR4TI (2.3 sohv /Hahnracecraft super20g)..... there are no other leaks....... the idle smooths out when I unplug the BOV.....no it is not stuck open. it only opens when I put vaccum to it.

    ...If I'm reading this correctly, then my assumption is going to be that you need to re-pipe the tubing to your BOV, or replace your BOV. Without a much more detailed description of exactly what's going on, I can't say any more.

    However, at idle your car produces a significant amount of vacuum. Also, I'd suggest switching from a BOV to a Diverter and recirculating your air either way.

    just recirculate your bov. if its connected to your intake, you shouldnt have any issues

    I finally just went with a new BOV. the other one was to much of a pain in the ass.
