Default One mans Jaguar XJS V12 Opinion.

Alright so my buddies family has one of these and it is an 88 model. We got into a discussion tonight, and this seems to be one of the only things he has picked up from his father which is ignorance (only in some aspects). He says that their Jag will outhandle any street or daily driven honda whether it be a civic, accord, etc and definitely destroy it in the mountains, or curvy terrain.

I definitely think this is one of the most naive things I have ever heard. I mean I have nothing against the jag, and im sure it handles fantastic. But to me putting it against any honda is a bit much. I think I could have a run with it, and Im pretty sure there are some Hondas on here that could destroy it as far as mountain runs go. The Jag may be a wonderful piece of machinery, but as far as beating any daily or street driven honda in the mountains I think thats a little bit far-fetched. Anyone have any ideas on this. I told him I would gladly run his father in the car to test out my theory, but his father is one of those people who are all talk, and would probably never run his car hard in the mountains.

NSX, S2k, or a Type R. I don't know anything really about the Jag other than the fact that it is a Jag. Based on that fact though, any of the previously referenced 3 cars would likely destroy it in the curves.

An 88 jaguar xjs is an ugly piece of ****.

    That being said.

It is better than your car in every performance aspect and probably would rape your **** in the mountains.

Heavy, SLOW (263hp with 3 spd auto, 0-60 in over 8 seconds) Godawful ugly, weren't anything special in their day, and regularly got trounced by all the other big MFR's cars in magazine shootout/comparisons.

Not to mention the 12 was a boat anchor POS and Jaguar's FANTASTIC reliability in those days.
