Good posts though. Thanks for the info.

I don't see how it's going to be able to compete with a mustang GT as far as stock performance goes, but they're definitely taking a step in the right direction.

The sad part is if you buy one of those Chinese vehicle you better be wearing a crash proof helmet and a flame suit. Might as well have an ambulnace follow you around.

Their crash test ratings are better than a lot of car manufacturers:

    Kia:
    Hyundai:
Chery QQ made by MVM did rather well:
Although the Chery A15/Amulet, not so good...
    http://video.aol.com/video-detail/ch...est/1798417186
However, it seems that we can't go by this scary video that's being put out all over the web:
"One of Chery's earlier sedans fared badly in a crash test done this year by a car magazine in Russia. Chery says that the test was biased, and that the car performed better in a follow-up test in China."

You've failed to realize that Hyundai's new RWD coupe is NOT the Tiburon. It's the 2009 Genesis Coupe. Do a little more research buddy.

    Two completely different cars.

I've been doing a buttload of research. Have you not been reading my posts? This car hasn't even made production yet. Anyway that is nice looking car, but it'll be interesting to see how it actually runs on the track. I want to see the reviews once Car & Driver or Road & Track have gotten a hold of it and test drove it. If it lives up to everything that's being said about it, then I may finally be impressed by something Hyundai has put out. I didn't take the time to do much research on it, because the car has not actually reached production as of yet. I was trying to research cars that have been on the market for a while and had plenty of reviews. The first year of most vehicle models isn't always the best anyhow, simply because they still have to work the bugs out that they find after the cars have been on the road for a while. They've taken about a decade or two to advance as far as they have on their current models, but I'm sure with all they've learned that this car, even with any bugs it may come with, will still be much better than the turds they put out 15-20 years ago. Also, just because they say it will come out in '09 doesn't mean it will. Does anyone else remember that Cheverolet's original plan was to come out with their new Camaro in '08? I haven't seen it on the road... have you? It's still too soon to say anything regarding how this vehicle reflects on Hyundai other than to say that they are making progress and taking steps in the right direction with the new concepts they're producing.

Have you not been looking at my sig? Does that look like a concept car shell with no running drivetrain? Hyundai has already started marketing the Genesis sedan, which will be seeing production... and it only makes sense that the Genesis coupe should follow suit.

You're such a genuinely nice guy to the noobs. Nobody would ever guess that you were 20/21 with such a pleasant disposition.

Didn't you read my last post? I didn't say it was a shell with no running drivetrain. Also, most concept cars do having a "running drivetrain". I only said that it isn't in production. Also, I didn't say it won't see production, I only said it may not happen when they said it would.

I don't discriminate against noobs -- only dumbasses.

You're not one of them. I appreciate some of the things you've said in this thread. What really pisses me off are these misinformed "JDM" (i use that term lightly -- i should just say "ricers") nutswingers that go around shooting their mouth off about Hyundai/Kia without doing research.

I am by no means a kia or hyundai nutswinger but this post is pretty ignorant. In fact on a lot of them i have looked at, they often use many parts that are produced by mitsubishi, denso or other common parts mfgs! i dont see where you could get off by saying they are unreliable unless you are making an uninformed leap thinking that less expensive = not reliable.

im a honda guy but i love what hyundai has been doing the past few years! my uncle bought a Santa Fe (SUV) when they first came out for like 16k and it now has over 200,00 miles on it and its still running perfect! hyundai has come along way just like honda did! i think kia has a LONG way to go though!

the good thing is that it looks good. the bad thing is that it is a KIA! Wow!! But the questions are; does it perform as well as the civic? can it handle the long term abuse of us tuner nuts? and will they start manufacturing GReddy kits and all other kinds of aftermarket parts for it?? Beats me....

Now that's impressive coming from Hyundai! Now if they can just get their handling under control! From what I've seen when I looked at the '07 Santa Fe, they appear to be pretty comfortable as well.

Hyundai is for real and KUDOS to them. Do yall realize Hyundai now OWNSZ Acura!?!?!

Hyundai now offers a 380 hp V-8 with RWD car, the Genesis. They will now offer a RWD coupe with optional LSD and Brembos.

Acura are all FWD or AWD with FWD bias. They offer no V-8.

A damn shame HYUNDAI now is more luxurious than Acura.

    Kudos to Hyundai!!!
