porsche taking over vw

i read an article that talked about porsches plans to take over the volkswagen adn audi corporation. Porsche currently owns 31% of vw which includes audi, bently, lamborghini, seat, and all of the others that belong to vw. The article said that it was just rumors that porsche is going to take over vw.

After i talked to an porsche employee that i know today, he confirmed that it is not a rumor. Porsche has been approved to buy 51% of the vw and audi corporation.

Do you think that this will improve the car that they are currently making, make them worse, or not make a difference?

This has been happening and they just wont bite the head off. So this is irrelevant. There supposed to do it because of German law but they've held of this long.

Yea, they have been increasing their ownership for awhile now. After 31% they must make a full bid for it. Which they did.

i could see better interiors for porsche,coming from audi which is nice, posche's interior's are a bit bland for such an expensive car brand.

yeah well i have seen some and they are nice but not as nice as you would think they would be on 100k plus cars. and audi makes some nice ass interiors.

I wish people really took the time to understand this whole situation. German law on this matter is VERY different from American law. VW/Audi etc. and their non-German subsidiaries are going to continue working the same way they have. The only thing this really changes is the financial and ownership relation between Porsche and Volkswagen group. Porsche has been an "Interested Party" in the control of Volkswagen for a very VERY long time now.

I doubt there will be very much sharing between the companies that hasn't already occurred. If Porsche had wanted Audi's interiors they could have gotten them before now. I guess we'll see if anything changes for the American market though.

There will be no change. This does explain the replacement of the Beatle that looks like an old 911.

Whenever Porsche has special projects, it seems like they mostly call on VW anyways.For example, the Porsche 924 was supposed to have been an Audi product but Audi bagged out of it for their own quattro coupe. They've been working together on different projects for years. I don't think anything will change with them.

Actually, it's been the opposite. To use your example, the Porsche 924 was being developed by Porsche for Audi. Audi chose not to procede with production of the 924, so Porsche produced the car to recoup thier R & D. The 924 project eventually became the 944 once Porsche developed thier own engine. And, that little tid bit might be slightly off as I have heard but not verified that the 944 engine was licensed to Porsche from Mitsubishi.

But, the point is that Porsche was able to remain in business in the 1970's and early 1980's through design consulting work for other German manufacturers.

Also, VW, Porsche and Audi have been in bed business-wise for a very, very long time. After all, we wouldn't have VW if it wasn't for Dr. Porsche designing the original Beetle in the 1930's. The Porsche 356 was basically a restyled Beetle with a Beetle engine that used twin cam heads.

As far as the original question, I don't think anything will change in the operation of VW, Porsche or any of the brands that VW currently owns.
