Boost doesn't cause detonation by itself, there's tons of factors that can cause detonation. What's the point in adding timing if the ecu is just going to be a nanny and take it away? My car runs 23psi on pump without a hint of detonation at 12.5:1 afr. Direct injection ftw... oh and I have a bosch ecu in this car as well.
Once again, let me reiterate: If you have say, 28 degrees of timing advance and the ecu is pulling four, if you ADD two more, the ecu is only going to pull more. It's counterproductive. Knock retard recovery cycles are adjustable in the pcm, but even in a perfect scenario, it's not going to benefit you over having no excess knock/detonation in the first place.
Detonation is bad.
