    Default Bodykits: How much longer...

Before they become the "in" thing to do again? I love the whole stock looking thing, but to be honest, it's getting kinda boring. I'm not talking crazy bodykits and stickers. Just a nice clean kit with a nice paint job lowered on some nice rims.

I've actually been thinking of some good ideas for my FC, including a sick paint job. Thinkin about buying a nice kit soon.

Leave the "body kits are gay" mumbo jumbo out. If that's what you have to say then you may as well get back to being a JDMsheep.

You know, the scene has gotten so boring that I just now realized how much I've pushed it away. I've gone back to hobbies that I haven't done in 5+ years because the import scene blows now. I've been pretty much out for almost 2 years now. I'm sick of going to meets and seeing 50+ 240s with sr20s and Integras with "JDM" front ends. It's some gay ****.

On another note, how you gonna buy some ****in ebay headlights and replica Mugen front lip and say it's JDM. No it aint mother****er, you're defying the purpose and the irony is more than I can take. I just want to bust out laughing every time someone says that ****. WTF happened to the real JDM scene?

I'm thinking something like this, maybe a candy apple red (since I love red)

But be real guys, what brought everyone into the scene, a stock bodied CRX with a $3000 front lip and JDM-style headlights? Hell no, crazy ass bodykits slammed to the ground with bomb-ass sound and of course the power to back it up.

Mustang guy: Before I had this epiphany, and for the past 1.5 years, I was seriously considering selling off my car and picking up a 03-04 Cobra. Once IA started with this gay ass **** I pretty much switched to SVTPerformance.com exclusively.

But I honestly believe the import scene took a turn for the worst. People care too much about what haters have to say rather than being original and truly expressing themselves.

I disagree. 7 years ago i hated the thoughts of the tuner scene. FWD, Neons, Stupid Kits, all that nonsense was all you saw. I had to actually go to the track and see CRXs without fenders, hoods, interiors, running #'s i couldn't in my 300zx. I also started to realize how well these cars can handle. It took those few that saw function over flash to bring me in. At the same time i've always seen that different cars can have respect for different reasons....that's why to add to the fast stuff, ive always liked lowriders, hot rods, street rods, classics, minitrucks, and off roaders.

But again... a crx with nothing but a nasty kit will never have taste in my book.

100% correct..... this JDM stuff has brainwashed kids to conform with what ever is going on. Coming to Varsity and seeing a guy build a Triumph Spitfire with an SVO 2.3L Turbo was such a breath of fresh air. All you see is civics and 240s all looking like they are falling apart and yet the owners talk sh!t about anyone who drives something different..... "shut the fuk up you tree wrapping drifter".

But i digress, again im tired of people thinking there is a list you have to follow when building a car. tired of it. Bodykits are an issue of personal taste...work for some, not for others. Me...well i like em on some cars....not on others. To many variables.

Let me give you an idea what i think using RX7 (i guess it's relevant)

    Lolllll.

And aero has never been "out". Blister kit or die...JGTC style wing (better be flush or higher than your roofline) or die...Fence pipes that extend 2-3 feet past the rear aero or die...Who cares? It's a fuccking car.

It's true, how you gonna hate on body kits and wings when carbon fiber is the same ****. At least if you track your car the wings and spoilers help somewhat. Carbon fiber is just as useless and perhaps even more ostentatious than a wing and body kit.

Don't think I'm hatin on nobody. You do your own thing but don't try to justify your carbon fiber as a performance product. It is for show and show only (unless it is a PRO race car)

Also note that I didn't post in that thread after the first page. I just like to hear people's opinions.

Just wondering if weight savings that equal better performance, better cornering and better gas mileage do not benefit a "street car". Just wondering.

Wrong. They do something, they keep the rear end on the ground. Under braking you don't think it is good to have both the front of rear pushing down? You want aero front and rear, regardless of the drivetrain layout... Should a RWD car not need a front lip?

i think the term body kit has bad rep because of how many ricers ruin their cars with ebay fibreglass kits with ****ty paint and so on. IMO the majority of kits for any car look like ass, but some flow really well with the body lines and look AMAZING...like the black fc you posted

Anyone tired of ignorant people calling all imports rice? Then they digress and call all cars with wings rice. Forgetting...

time attack, drag cars, drift cars, etc....

Agreed, and then they go throw carbon fiber all over their street car and act like it's any different.

I think a kit would look nice on any car as long as it flows with the lines of the car.

pretty much. none of the super flashy hanging fangs and retarded extra flares.

simple clean kit that adds to it.

I believe it, everyone spending thousands of dollars to make their car look stock. Doesn't make sense to me. If you're gonna spend all that money on "performance" at least take the car to the track.

somewhat true. the main reason people switch to domestics is displacement. it's just sooo much easier to go fast.

IMHO, when it comes to body kits, I think it's dependent on what car you're talking about.....

The days of the Black Widow and all those other variation of kits have come and gone, thankfully.....

I think with Honda's that unless it's some sort of Jspec kit, it's just tacky and out of date....

As far as other imports, there are plenty of good looking kits that serve a purpose as well......

I think when it all comes down to it it's all about personal tastes but true tuners look at the whole picture and what I mean by that is that they use parts that are functional and not just because of the looks......

    Function> Fashion.

A good looking body kit installed correctly and painted has never been "out." There is a stigma hanging over body kits because of all the half ass installations you see driving around. Get a good looking one. Do it right. And then bask in your non lemming-like glory.

I thought about BC2 kit when I was a kid LOL.

The only cars I get sick and tired of looking are stock Civic hatchbacks and those badly damaged and different painted 240sx.

I've actually been thinking of some good ideas for my FC, including a sick paint job. Thinkin about buying a nice kit soon.

Leave the "body kits are gay" mumbo jumbo out. If that's what you have to say then you may as well get back to being a JDMsheep.
