Excellent thread and I agree completely with what people are saying that, when done right it absolutely should be done.
My question is, why wait for it to be cool? Don't follow and start doing clean mods, that doesn't mean make the car stock, but make it tasteful.Originally Posted by fcman
I am pretty confident that if you roll up in a nicely done car with a good bodykit all the copying posers will be like "OMG I dont have to copy someone else b/c I now know what looks good!"
+1 to lots of you guys good points everyhwere. Im going to run through the thread and rep everyone ok.

IMHO, when it comes to body kits, I think it's dependent on what car you're talking about.....
The days of the Black Widow and all those other variation of kits have come and gone, thankfully.....
I think with Honda's that unless it's some sort of Jspec kit, it's just tacky and out of date....
As far as other imports, there are plenty of good looking kits that serve a purpose as well......
I think when it all comes down to it it's all about personal tastes but true tuners look at the whole picture and what I mean by that is that they use parts that are functional and not just because of the looks......
Function> Fashion.
When you don't put a body kit on your car just because sum1 says it doesn't look good then you're a ricer. When you a put a body kit on your car just cause sum1 says it will look cool you are a ricer. You have to do what you like and what you think looks good. If you do it for someone else what's the point? You'll never enjoy driving your car if it's only what everyone else likes. just my

Back to being stock and slow
i like kits on car's when there done right. i hate it when it's ok for a 240 that have a kit and it's the best looking thing ever but put one on a civic and it's rice. in my opion if you drive a honda it's rice. the term rice came from rice rocket which mean's any car made in japan. and the whole jdm thing should be called OEM because everybody that has a stock SI or really any civic call's it "jdm". i dont think i have ever used the term "my hatch is jdm" i like my hatch the way it is because i had a body kit on my coupe and i would drag it everytime i entered a parking lot or crossed a speed bump. i like lip kits now but it's your car so fix it up the way you like and fuk everyone else.
this is a nice thread. to me rice is just pointless junk on a car not necessarily only bodykits, i like mugen bodykits on rsx or 350zs. i have seen ricey mustangs... 20 inch wheels bodykit bright paint and a big wing, its not just japaneese cars. i dont think the domestic boys go for the usdm look...or do they???
I asked a girl if i could buy her a drink, she said I have a boyfriend, so I said, well i have a goldfish, she said what? I replied, oh I'm sorry I thought we were talking about shit that doesnt matter.

Honestly I dont think they ever went OUT. I have one on my car...didnt think twice about it either.
I have a widebody kit on my eclipse and when I'm at shows some people call it rice but I really dont give a ****. I built my car for me and no one else. I love it when some of the old school hot rod guys come up and say " Damn, that looks good. Somebody spent alot of time building that." Great thread![]()
Georgia's scene gotten boring. Just like someone said, everyone is so worried about what other's think they don't want to be original and rather jump the bandwagon to fit in. "Time Attacks" for example.
i remember you had that civic.... it wasn't for me but atleast seeing it was better than the 745985708th civic with a lip.Originally Posted by iNsTuN nOoDoH

your all ricers..............nah but on a serious note it is all what you want. noone should even think twice about what some punkass at a gas station or the mall has to say about your car.. if its your money and you are happy with the finished product then by all means do it!
the only reason for putting a "body kit" on a car is if its functional.
not necessarily....Originally Posted by matthewAPM

Im all for speed and performance but there are exceptions to the rule.
Even with that being said...a "functional body kit" of coarse it's functional. It does the same thing the standard bumper did. Only now it might be more aerodynamic (i said might!).
I see that you all about the go, but you gotta realize there is a definite and important area in customizing a car (that term seems cleche) the looks.
Looks are one of the biggest points on a car. We know its yours by the way it looks. So if i was to put a non "functional" front bumper on your car what would happen. Im not talking bout a nasty front bumper that makes people point and laugh but one thats a bit sleeker than the one you have now. It serves no "function" but to look different.
Just to repeat myself.....they are all "functional" no matter how nasty.

Life is a thought, think about it.
i agree with the whole bodykit thing, its getting boring because everyone is riding around in the same looking stock ass car, and personally i wouldnt go JDM.. im getting into EUROTUNERS.. f.ucking BMW & AUDI , some badass cars if you know what you want to do with it and make it look real clean.
yeahhhhhh you likeeeee when she does thattttttt
IMO RX7s look good with kits, but like u said not big ugly ones...Originally Posted by fcman

WHY?
1. well done body work.
2. Proper fitment
3. Wheels fill in the gaps just right.
Compare that to the fit & finish on your Chevy Camero!
True and lol at the last part... the only kit i didnt like was the Veilside from F&F...Originally Posted by EJ25RUN

I think that it is one of the best rx7 kits but that's just me.

true, just not my taste.....i just have never seen a kit for a FD that can compare to the exotic stock looks, its like putting a kit on a lambo...why do that the car is perfect from the factory.....but as you say to thier ownOriginally Posted by EJ25RUN

ANSWER: because you can. They're kits that complement the factory lines and add more to them.
Check this. You said Lamborghini but this Fabulous JP MB SL500 & Ferrari explain it better.

Granted the flying vagina on the civic is rice...period. But that kit on the s2000 is ok at best. Just seems boring....rather do stock front than that.Originally Posted by matthewAPM

but enough of s2000 talk.
You already know i like performance but when it come to vehicles like this....
i couldn't care less how fast they are. It really is all about the looks.

I was working on making my car as stock appearing as possible. I do have a love for the factory EF appearance. I really don't much care for body kits either. Not as a trend, I just didnt like them. However, with the order of a new t3/t04e kit, a ton of suspension and fuel components, and some other things, I came across this kit while browsing, and decided It wouldn't look bad. After looking more and more at my car, it was a far cry from stock. Now now i'll be sporting this kit, and working with what I've got.
i think unless it's a true mugen kit... nothing needs to be on a crx.Originally Posted by jmmx258

it is just a look alike, but i just like the style of it, its not huge and flashyOriginally Posted by EJ25RUN
