why would someone put a type R head on a B16? The heads are already very similar, except for the fact that the type R head is hand ported.

back to the OP..... Personally I wouldn't go with either unless you like to work on your car alot. If you want something reliable, find a unmodified B18C1 and start from there.

Just save up some more money and invest in a JDM B18C. hmotorsonline.com has the whole package for $2,500 motor, tranny, ecu, etc... Most of the motors they sell come with like 35,000 miles on them. Good deal, huh?

I say go with the LS/V. It's what I got running in my car now. Decent whp/wtq for the setup. If you build it properly, it will not give you trouble. A poorly built setup will cause problems regardless of what it is.

B16 with a ITR head is redundant, it will still be a b16.

Just cause it says ITR doesnt mean its "better"

what the hell is the point in a b16 with a type r head?

the only thing the b16 has going for is it's head.

i'll bet it would put the same numbers as just a regular b16.

    i'd go with ls/vtec

I have a gsr long block, no tranny. it is taken apart, but just about all of the internals are perfectly fine. block had just under 100k on it when it was pulled out. one lifter housing came apart and was making some noise, other than that its ready to be built. building it, by the way, is why I took it apart. Just need money now. The bottom end was never disassembled, and I can sell the head bare with it for less. pm me if interested.
