you should gain gas mileage since you are increasing the efficiency of the motor.

i heard that before but then again....isnt the motor producing more power by flowing a lil bit more air in and out causing the ecu to dump slightly more fuel? no?

the car runs richer with the factory exhaust and exhaust manifold the header and exhaust will actually lean it out a bit just don't get rid of the cat

Your car will require you to gas it less to get up to speed. Many people get the idea that it decreases your mileage because people tend to get on the gas more.

the only way a header and exhaust system would cause you to get decreased fuel economy is if you stay on the pedal to hear it, which you will inevitibly do, just like everyone else who has an exhaust system. When I was younger I tried to justify the bolt ons to my parents by telling them It would raise my fuel economy. My dad knew better though, and made the point that as long as the car sounds better, you are going to want to hear it.

it all depends on the weight of your right foot.

i regularly get 35+ mpg 1/3 city 2/3 hwy driving on my turbo'd civic. i've stretched it to 38+ mpg all hwy driving. total city driving like a maniac wot every stop light it'll drop down to 24mpg. it really depends on how you drive it.

very interested in your setup cause i was thinkin of doin something like this.

thinking if i put together a turbo d or b20/ls that didnt spool til 36-4k rpm i should still be able to get good gas mileage, right?

anyway whats your setup? #s? spool rpm? tranny? gonna search but if youd be so kind as to paste
