    Default STI STOCK

Hello all haven't been on here in couple Sunday's but thought id get some thoughts. I'm trying to think of some low cost things to improve my car's performance. I'm thinking something like Exhaust/intake but really not sure whats new on the market as for best bang for the buck. If you get the chance drop me some idea's and roughly what they run. Ive bought the Cobb tuning port last year sometime so i have that to remap after the changes. And if QD is still around stay out my thread lol no drama please. Really any ideas would be appreciated thanks. If i can find some pics ill post them if ya ll still like that lol...:boobies:

The factory intake is good up to around 350whp. Its a waste of money if you buy it now. Also, just a little FYI, the factory hood is aluminum and its lighter than damn near every aftermarket one for the STI, CF or not.

If you already have an accessport I hope you're only a running a Stage I map.

My reccommendations (what I would do ). Is get a full 3" catless turbo back exhaust and get that biatch protuned asap. The OTS Stage II map from Cobb runs pig rich. Youll love it after a protune! If you want a protune go to TopSpeed since the best Subaru tuners are there in one house. Scott and Doug.

definately do a catless turbo back exhaust. Leave the intake and blow-off valve stock as they arent gonna really help you until your making bigging power. Also the cobb map will be ok, but it will run rich as hell...so a protune as nemesis suggested would be nice too.

And you could always do meth injection for a nice gain

What are your ultimate HP goals? It's usually best to figure that out first so you can purchase parts that are relevant to your ultimate goals and still work for now. It just ends up saving you money in the long term to have a pan. Obviously, most people go with all of the regular bolt ons first. Ya tracey im not looking really for big numbers, im actually happy with my car like it is id just like to put some low cost things to it just to improve the overall performance maybe get 100hp more out of it or less. Like i really dont want to get into the motor and all just typical bolt on stuff. But like someone said if intake isnt going to change anything than im ok not getting it. I know the exhaust is the biggest change for me with proper tuning. But there is so many types out there not sure what to go for to get my money's worth. Id even be ok putting pullies on or something if it will help...

    here's a thread on meth....
    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=937176

Don't do nitrous...and you don't need bigger injectors unless you go bigger turbo. A higher flowing fuel pump would also help.

I personally wouldn't do meth inj. only because of the failure rate. I had it in my Evo and never used it. Dan used it like twice, I think. My STI has like 500 awhp now and doesn't use meth. It's an ok concept for cheap, easy power...but if it doesn't come on...you are screwed. So just like anything cheap and easy, it's not always the best way to go.

To be honest, it's all modded up, but I don't think it's finished. I have been running it with the boost controller off because I don't think it is fully tuned yet. I think it has a GT35R and some other stuff. I haven't really stayed up with it. I'll inform myself when it's all finished. I just get the cars handed to me and I drive them. That's all I know anymore

Good point it just looked safer than nit. and it seems nit. has gotten pretty safe these days.. But then i dont know really ive never even seen a car on Meth. I may just stay away from it.

500awhp is that with alot of motor upgrades, Im not sure really what numbers to look for with standard bolt-ons. exhaust/tuning/pully/intake etc.

Just about any 3 inch exhaust will do as long as the downpipe is either divorced or bellmouth (basically just don't get the hks downpipe). I've heard pulleys or (not and) a lightened fly-wheel help a little. But yeah, then get a protune and you should be set for awhile. If you want more after that, I'd go with a bigger intercooler/turbo and supporting mods. I've known people that run meth and they usually have problems with it (nothing serious, just having to replace pumps constantly). Personally I'd avoid meth or nitrous unless you are looking to create an absolute monster.

Oh yeah, and like everyone else has said, don't get an intake or bov. They are a complete waste on a mildly tuned sti.

PS, Definitely check out WRXAtlanta, IWSTi, or Nasioc. This is about the last place I'd look for advice on Subarus.

Ok its been awhile since i posted on this ive been doing alot of soul searching for my car. Here is my plan.

    Perrin Up
    Cobb tbe catless
AEM intake i know it may not be for gains but i want one
    Accesport already have it
    Walbro pump
    Topspeed tune

At this point i think thats all i will do. My final ? is am i missing something and or do i need anything else before tuning it etc. Also Should 300 to 320 be expected from this.

Thanks everyone for helping and if someone from Topspeed responds how many weeks should i call for appointment to get this done and roughly how much is tuning there.

sounds like you're ready to go, although i think you dont need a new fuel pump unless you're going with a bigger turbo

Ya it will actually be the last thing i get, I just wasnt sure if it would be safer to add the pump. I may just get it tooned without and see if it needs it at that time.

$160 per hour @ topspeed, and if you buy a cobb ap from them you get 1/2 an hour of tuning free

its usually 300 flat for protune i think... honestly if I could redo my exhaust right now I would get the INVIDIA V2 catless and the Tanabe titanium ultra racing medallion exhaust

TOOOOOOO many bends in pretty much every other exhaust. (If had stupid money I would buy the JIC full titanium) The ones that slant are almost as straight as possible. A friend of mine has that setup on a 06wrx and it sounds AMAZING. I will be selling my exhaust for that setup after i stop spending money on every other damn mod.. im mod crazy latly.. 900 this month .. and my DD died on me
