    Default LS swap which transmission should I keep?

    Ok, I have a 1996 Civic EX coupe with a 97 LS swap in it. Currently it has b16 transmission in it, and while the short gears are fun, I am pushing nearly 4500rpm doing 80mph on the freeway. Thats just crazy for the LS. Now I also have a 92 Hatch with an LS swap in it (LS transmission), I am planning to sell the Hatch, but I am planning on keeping the coupe at least for a little bit.

    So should I go and do the transmission swap and put the B16 trans in the hatchback that I am selling or should I keep the b16 transmission on my own car?

    what do you guys think and what is your reasoning.

    My ultimate goal is to a have a good daily driver, not a ricer racer mobile.

    well you have both cars with different trannies cant you tell which one feels better to you? i would say do the tranny swap and keep the ls tranny with the ls motor in the civic your going to keep.

    i think a gsr trany would work the best, lol, i really dont know

    I like the way the b16 transmission feels, revs fast as hell and pulls damn hard, much harder than what an b18b1 transmision would pull, its just that its reving so freaking high on the freeway. yeah I can drive 65 and keep the rpms at around 3200 but every one does 70-80mph and thats 4000+rpm for me. I still have not had a chance to calculate my average gas millage though.

    I just dont know how this will affect the relaibility of my car.

    if you looking for a quick come up sell the b16 tranny. If you like acceleration sell the ls tranny.

    Since it's a "DD" sell the b16 tranny since the LS would give you better gas mileage.

    Take the LS 5th gear out of the LS tranny and put in the b16 tranny.
    I hate my b16 tranny for that reason..Sucks turning 4500 going 80mph..and if traffic happens to be moving faster than that, im no the edge of hitting vtec or will be in vtec while cruising at 90+

    Can I replace the Reverse gear with LS 5th?

    Does anyone know if any one makes 6speed bseries transmission.

    its fairly easy to replace the reverse with a ls 5th.

    yeah I thought about that too, I thought to my self that I would always have to park in situations where I would not need reverse. But I said fudge it, Ill just throw the LS tranny in there for ol times sake.

    i have a b16 on my LS and i dont mind the high rpms on the highway
    i've taken long trips in it and still didnt care
    and my car is very loud
    i wouldn't give up have acceleration of the b16 tranny

    I would I dont like it, I feel like I am always riding in 4th.

    I mean I like the acceleration, but it kills the DD aspect of the car. shifting at 3k I am doing only 40mph by the time I get to 4th.

    its sounds like your best bet would be to put the b16 tranny in the hatch you're selling, and put the longer gear LS in your DD. Ultimately i think you'll get more for the hatch with the b16 tranny as they are much more desirable, and as everyone else has mentioned a noticeable amount quicker.

    US is a country that drives above the speed limit most of the time, unlike Japan where most people drive under the limit. But I would say go ahead and sell the B16 trans and get a GSR trans.

    hey man when i had my teggy i got a tranny swap LS to GSR
    GSR is not so short like the B16 but its shorter than the LS if your planning to boost it soon keep the LS otherwise sell both B16 and LS and get a GSR and put LSD in it that would be the best choice imo

    im just gonna swap the two trannies I have, dont wanna spend any more money on transmissions.
