I tell ya what, I'll just show you mine in a few months. Its no secret thats what I am building.
They do have an advantage of having a V6 instead of a V8 in that big brick chassis. I will love to see what your car does when its finished and i will be most impressed with you if you have the balls to take it on a mountain run

I have the grapes to do it, but I wouldnt simply because I dont wanna lose my license haulin a$$ around blind curves (I used to do mtn runs ALOT) since I am 2 pts off suspension now. The point isnt have the best at everything, I want the most well rounded car. The handling is the buicks weakness, but I can live w/ its soon to be transformed state.

having grapes and having grapes to drive a buick around a mountain are 2 different things, i understand where you are at, i respect the fact you dont want to do it. but i would love to see it so i could be proven wrong that a heavy automatic american made brick could handle the mountain roads.

Spider, I agree in theory, but a GN is single wall metal, that has NO sound deadener, no trunk liners, nothing extra. To say a GN is a brick isnt looking at the big picture. At a 3,500 lbs rated weight, its 205 lbs more than my Jetta... my 4 cyl jetta. That is also nearly 1200 lbs LIGHTER than a lightning truck is rated to be (4670 lbs), and 300-400 lighter than a 8 cyl late model F Body (depening on equip).
After seeing Year Ones cars at Road Atlanta, you can appreciate what technology in suspension can do for even an old "straight line" car.
So yes, they are heavier than a civic, they are certainly stronger in a straight line, but do in OEM trim technically out handle a coupe EX, and what OEM civic ever turned 13.8s...especially in middle of the 1980s in an all factory trim level and only 245 hp like the 87 GNs?! BTW, An LS1 SS camaro will teach a Si a lesson in OEM trim in the mountains, (the curves as well as straights) and it is heavier as well.
The term Brick is maybe OK for a 40s merc, think lead sled... Or my old Widebodied Si! :P

    911 turbo = teh sexxiness
“Alfalfa peak”—an odd ridge on a car that is otherwise a lava-lamp jubilee of rounded Oprah-ness.

'87 GNX in original condition is worth $125,000 on nada.com!! just hink what they go for on the private market if they're rare enough to be priced that high. as a comparison, a tt supra like mine is only worth $15,000 on nada! and we all know what they go for on the private market.
