house of turbo subarus...its all we'll drive
Of course not, never said you had to. Just saying you could. On a subaru on stock turbo; Wrx/STi both start tapering at around 5k. They both hit max boost around 4-5k. The 39 could be pushed til redline, I mean no need of course. But shifting around 7k isn't going to make that much of a diffrence than if you were to have shifted at 6k.Originally Posted by yerrow
flip a coin, heads EVO tails Sti, either way, you won't be able to tell the difference.
^^ Yeah, I drew a frame of a man running on each fan blade. That is him running at idle

and if you correctly shifted before 6k it would put you right back in the sweet spot of the powerband so that you will still be accelarating with plenty of rpms to go.
i can rev my all the way to boost cut, but its not doing me any favors since i'm losing boost
so yes there is benefit on a stock turbo'd subaru in shifting before 6k

power capability - evo, they can handle more for less money
but i still love my wrx, i love the wrxatl community we have here too! im sure evos are just as friendly.

only thing i don't like about mitsubishi or the evolution is that they don't offer a lower powered version(like the wrx impreza) it's just the high powered evolution or the **** lancers, lol, they need one with about 225HP like the imprezas, that'd be awesome.

You can get a barely used Evo for super cheap right now. I'm talking very low miles and fantastic condition for around 20 grand. You can't beat that!
There are plenty of guys that have made 540whp on a stock sti motor, I'm not sure that you can do anymore than that with a stock evo.Originally Posted by atlxpat

I have always liked evo's! But ya see more evos on the road then you do sti's! Sti's do have a very unique exhaust tone, i dont really like it but it may grow on me!

NWS FTW
i've personally driven a friend's STi and fell in love. it's got so much power (it's hardly stock minus the exhaust and some other minor mods) and handles like a dream. in a turn where my s2000 would've broke loose...the STi held quite nicely. im sure EVO is on the same page. whichever you get AWD FTW.
yep i make my mind up....trying to get my eg swap done then ....sell it..after that buy me a sweet STI..THANK GUYS FOR UR HELP so MUCH...
workin on it!
