Default How much lbs on a B16?

I have a GT28R turbo on my B16. Does anyone know how much lbs of boost does it need to be at to get around 340whp??? Pretty much maxing the turbo out.

Do not shoot for a number. Get a good safe tune. 12lbs max but I suggest 10. What are your compression check numbers?

dont even think that turbo is efficient at 350hp or capable of. if ur wanting to shoot for 350hp u should get a gt2871. good for about 370-400 hp.

I hope your block is sleeved for that kind of power, and forged pistons and rods. You should look into the garrett gt2871r or the gt3071r. Boost psi isnt what kills motors its the power that does. Also if you max out the turbo it wont last long at all.

He does not need to stick a gt30 on this motor. No way.

na its not sleeved, the gt30 to much for my motor, probaly the gt2871r next, i dont plan on maxin out the turbo maybe just turn it up to 12lbs and try tp get around 275whp. thanks for the info.

    gonna lag,

you really only need a sleeved block once you go past 500ish. 30R wouldnt be laggy, it just wouldnt make power before your motor does like the 28R's do.

    IMO 1.6l + gt30r = no-no.

Well the 30R wouldnt have that instant torque below 4k like the 28 does. But you got to remember, they do make 30Rs that are pretty d*mn small and it still has the midrange that a BB turbo gives you. Still a good street turbo IMO. But with a b16 your pistons will pop before you need too much more power.

yea it wouldn, but i think im set with 262whp on the 28r for awhile before i start to rebuilt the block. as for me next set-up is either sc61 or gt2871r.

I got a 99' si and im thinking about getting the gt2860rs. are you happy with the power you get out of it? I want to get around 280-300whp with good spool at around 3500rpms. Or do you think i should go with the gt2871r instead?

yea im happy with the power i made, just a lil under 300whp on high boost, go with the gt2871r 48 trim on stock b16 or if you have internals i would get a sc61 and if you on a budget a T3/TO4E 57 Trim.

You do know that a sc61 would be a laggier turbo than a 30R. Both the same size, just one has more technology in it.

Im gonna build the block, cp pistons, eagle rods, etc. I just wanna get good spool, i dont wanna have to rev over 4000rpm's to see power. Im gonna go with the gt2860rs or the gt2871r. I just gotta do some more research i guess.
