oh dat sucks!
IA's hawaiian90 black s13 hatch
I posted that vid a while back. Ford is trying to build their own diesel now being that navistar (builder of their powerstroke engines) have killed off their contracts due to navistar not wanting to accept warranty of their engines and Ford was really pissed with them. Many negotiations were tried. In short, Navistar sent their guys home and told them they won't build any more because of it all. Sux to be Ford
K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.
Well Navistar was demanding higher prices and threating to refuse to ship the new engine to Ford unless Ford pays the price Navistar is demanding-which would breach the supply agreement. Navistar is not complying with its obligations under warranty-sharing...So Ford is withholding money it owes Navistar for engines in a bid to recover what Ford says it is owed. Basically, both companies are playing dumb over the whole warranty claim which has totally F UCKED over many dealers. Neither want to take the blame or the loss to their already shallow pockets.

that recall is old like from the beginning of the year, when the superduty came out. it ended u being an easy problem to fix i believe.
The recall is not the entire issue - the issue w/ Navistar is still going on w/ no end in sight.

I don't think it's so black and white though. According to rumors, engineers from Ford of europe are developing one of their engines for the US market. This is due to failed talks with Navistar. There are many things they are disagreeing on...
Ford is not wanting to pay any more for the 6.4 than they did the 6.0. According to Navistar, the engines of course will cost more because of all the added emissions equipment (6.0 $9,000, 6.4 $11,000). The sharing of warranty is also a hot topic of course. As stated, Ford is claiming that Navistar is not paying it's full share of warranty (a 50/50 split I believe), and Navistar claims that the Ford technicians were not trained and therefore changed many parts unecessarily and they do not want to pay for parts there is nothing wrong with and should not have been changed. Ford's response being that it was Navistar's responsibility to train technicians, Navistar's response to that was that classes were offered and Ford chose to only send a representative in each region who would go to the dealers and train them. It's very complicated and both sides make a great case against the other. The next contract is for the 2010 vehicles. Both companies already have a backup plan i'm sure. I have also heard that Ford may be looking to go with Cummins for their full size trucks. The already have some 150s with small cummins engines in them.
Only time will tell really. Honestly I think that Ford will stick with Navistar. The quality of the 6.4 is top notch and they are working very hard together to keep it that way.

The sales might actually increas if they go that route. I've heard of people dumping the V8 diesels for the 6. My boss bought his dodge ram 3500 just for the 6, dispite the fact the chassis is weaker. Just myOriginally Posted by BABY J

maybe in their medium duty, but not in the F550 and higher. You can put Cat motors in them if you so wanted, along goes GM as wellOriginally Posted by JITB
