my friend in high school had one, its pretty cool and i almost bought one once. its not very fast, he raced his brothers fwd 3000gt from a dig and lost (the 3000gt was manual though, svx = auto). it had enough power to do donuts every time it rained lol. i think the 5spd swap kit was like $3k? which is something you have to do sooner or later because those auto trannies are ticking timebombs

that was the downfall of those cars,and for the price...u could get a VR4,RX-7,TT 300zx, or supra.......so it just was out gunned for the market,but i still love and u can find them for under $3k so for 10k on one u could have a damn nice car

There is a guy in Marietta that swapped one with a manual tranny and a wrx motor with a 20g. It is pretty fast.

They're fun cars, like little spaceships. Great competition for nonturbo 300ZXs and RX-7s but no match for anything boosted. There's plenty of room in the engine bay for an EJ20 but still no one in America has done the swap yet. There might be one locally getting that swap done within the next year or so.

5spd swaps are pretty common, although the cars automatic is geared for the autobahn. Drivetrain from any Impreza bolts up, you'd probably need new motor mounts for an EJ motor and definately a custom turbo manifold. The guy I know contemplating a swap has already dropped an EJ into his car to check sizes and he says it'll fit fine but you'll need to relocate the turbo to be in front of the motor instead of on the backside or there would be no place to route a DP.

i was thinkin the front end was a mix between a lincoln mark viii and a talon. the rear end like a dodge stealth (same as you bc theres not much difference between a probe and a stealth)

they were around $45k loaded....so thats TT300ZX,vette,RX-7 and Supra money....cant remeber what GTOs went for,i just remember the spyder being around $75k

the 1st gen of that car the XT (alcyone) seemed like it had the same issues.. My mom had one bought i brand new. She had a turbo model, and i remember she always had to get the brakes done like every 4 months...lol it had alot of problems, tho but it was minor stuff tho. it added up especially in a car noone wanted to touch..i remember those crazy door handles..car was crazy back when it first came out...

Has a similiar line to the old MX6/probe. The EA82t motor was pretty decent as well if you swapped on the TII i/c and some breather mods. I've been looking for one for YEARS!! unfortunately they are very rare in the hatch/4wd/turbo form, and never in good condition. While i find XT's everywhere....there is even a MINT one at the south pullapart

X2! ...you'll NEVER EVER find parts for it and when you do they will be probably be more expensive than a new STI's. I've seen numerous SVX's sitting at shops for 6 months to over a year just because a certain part isn't available.

Take the body and strip down to just the necessities you need then put in an STI power AND drive train...suspension too while you're at it!

Surbaru never did good until they enter WRC.

FYI, they did enter F1 as engine supplier, a flat 10 engine. But they never finish a race and they withdrawn.

Such a goofy looking car. I like the profile, but I could never get past the weird window design. It just bothers me for some reason.
