Default Should i say YES to a Civic EX??

    1995 Civic EX.....~$2900.

Should i try to convince the 'rents to let me trade the Sunfire for it??

How's the aftermarket for the EX civic, and whats the potential, as far as making it fast...?

The sunfire is a lost cause IMO. Always easy to find parts for civics(new or used parts), and parts are not expensive. Go for it.

Damn a honda. Find a nissan or mazda for cheaper. Find a Sentra and if it don't have an SR20, put one in it and even then you have the option between the SR20DE and SR20VE. Find a Protege and if it don't have the the BP, drop on in it. If you get bored and want something different, Find an MX3 in the junkyard and take it's motor mounts and wiring harness, and go find a 626, MX6 or Probe V6 and drop it in. It actually fits with no problem.

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

I love Nissans....I've never owned one before, but...They seem like the ''different'' type of JDM...almost like Toyota-- you almost forget its japanese...

hmm..Tell em where to look for some Nissan thats cheaper and that has a lotta aftermarket, and I'll go for it. It HAS to be reliable though, cuz it'll be my DD.

Yeah....my main reason for wanting to do this trade so bad, is because, tonight i was SUPER-PWNED by one of my friends Integras, with not even an intake on it... Only thing hes done (engine-wise) is Cat-back....I've done SO many more mods than that..I've done the PCV mod (not much), exhaust, and Ram-air intake. It was STILL killllllled.

    Just another quick Q......

My goal, for the amount of HP to come out of my car, is somewhere between 200HP -250HP.....Uhh....about how much $$ will I be investing in the Civic to get it in that range?? (I know for a fact I'll be boosting it, Number one...)

A lot. Don't expect to be able to just do bolt ons to that SOHC and expect close to 200. All the basic bolt ons, heaters, cat back, test pipe, air intake, etc. etc. probably would put you at about 120 ish(I'd assume, honda guys chime in) And since you said you want it reliable and fairly cheap I doubt you will go turbo. So basically if you want it to be fast swap it.

emissions problems? you can make excess of 300whp on a gsr motor and have it be reliable daily driver. but look to spend a few grand.

OH god yes take a EX over a sunfire any day of the week.

And nissans are reliable if maintained.

You cannot beat a 5spd honda in terms of price, reliability, performance, and styling.

They maybe a dime a dozen, but thats just because you can do what ever you want with it, with out really breaking the bank.

and 2900 for a 95 EX is a little much, you should be able to get it less than 2k, it might need a little work, but you can make it look like you want to.

Fresh paint, 2in drop, good wheels, Si lights, Lip, Amber corners, and some nice tint and you are gonna have a badass looking car.

still gonna be slow (faster than your sunfire) but save up some money and drop a 95 GSR in there (one of the easiest swaps to do) and boom, a nice looking, pretty damn quick four banger.

Sure there is. Here's the proof

    http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/...play.php?f=143

I mean unless you like to have a vehicle which 9 times out of 10 will either be broken into or stolen, why take that risk? You make what you believe to be a sound investment into a vehicle only for someone to rip you off. That's not cool. I say avoid the "H" badge shift_emotions or Zoom Zoom.

BTW, I forgot about the Toyota as well. There's always the 20V engine with the ITB's that came in the AE101 chassis. Or swapping a 2ZZFE with wiring harness in an older fwd Corolla would be hawt as well

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.

THIS is what i'd LOOOOVE to do with my 89 corolla!! But, it would need to get the tranny swapped out also, to make it a 5-speed. At THIS point, it kinda needs the carburetor re-built, so i can get it running again. AND, if im going to keep the corolla, My mom said i need to get it running by November 13th, or shes gonna get rid of it.......

Soo...If im gonna keep it, i NEED to find a carburetor, or carb rebuild kit AND someone to do the rebuild for me, by 11/13/90 in order to keep it....Of course, if anyone can find me a carb for a 4AF engine that works pretty well, and is pretty cheeeeeep, then i can just go ahead a drop it in.
PS-- The junkyard in my area doesnt really have any rollas with the carb in em...they're alll EFI.....

Hey, hey, That's not entirely true. As long as you avoid the atx, they are very reliable. I've owned 4 626's (all 5 speeds, 1 V6) and as long as you keep up on the maintenence, they're great cars. I'm daring to say my car is as reliable, if not more reliable than any car on these forums. Most mazdas don't have CV axle problems(which btw my factory CV axles have been known to power cars with in excess of 500 whp with no problem), or price inflation problems when it comes to getting parts due to demand. So what I'm on trans #3 but that's because of a bent shift fork on the first, busted transmission housing on the second which took out 5th gear due to the fluid leaking out (which there is a fix for that, they make a brace). So at least if you're gonna make a statement, at least state an actual fact, not an opinion

    K series 626. That's right. It's got a K in it.
