    Default Honda CR-Z Concept

Honda has released images of its CR-Z Concept ahead of its Tokyo Motor Show debut. Powered by a gasoline-hybrid engine, Honda says CR-Z stands for 'Compact Renaissance Zero.' However Honda explains how they ended up with the CR-Z name, the car is an obvious successor to the popular CRX hatchback of the 1980s and early 90s.

Honda calls the CR-Z a "lightweight sports car," indicating that it will have the performance to backup its sporty looks — highlighted by an over-sized grill and twin front air ducts. Honda failed to release any specific information about the show car, but it's believed that the CR-Z shares its powertrain with the current Civic Hybrid.

The CR-Z's interior follows the design theme of "Hi-tech and Sporty," achieved by a very futuristic instrument panel. Honda also designed the interior to seem very airy and spacious by using mesh material on a simple framework.

Check back for more details and images after the CR-Z's official debut later this month.

Hmmm...a CR-X successor. I've always liked the CR-X, and I think this concept looks NICE.

Aside from the headlights, that front end is gross. That tailend narrows too much which makes it look bulkier than it actually it. Not a huge fan thus far. Looks like a blend between a Toyota Prius and the new Civic coupe.

As much as I'd like to see a CRX successor, I'm not impressed with the CR-Z thus far. It looks like it's still in early stages of development so my opinion may change with the evolution of the design.

Yea, it might look better as development goes on, but I would love to see a modern ''CRX'' cruisin' around.

Is that a seatbelt buckle in the back I spy? If so, then why? Yeah, the Japanese CRX came with an available back seat but even it was worthless. Will anyone really want a 2+2 CRX?

That's true. I wonder if we'd get that here in the states though.

Who knows, same thing with the FC. Rear seats were available in Japanland but not here.

    I like it.

And to ran, that looks like an area for a cargo cover to me.

I really like the wheels, I want them.
