    Default question about a carburetor

    from a Toyota. 1.6L 4AF engine.

It had a problem with sputtering, having mist backfire through the carburetor, building up gas and bogging to a halt when idled for a while, and stumbling/bogging when under full-throttle.

I thought it needed to be rebuilt or replaced, but after reading somewhere that, for THIS carb, some of the other problems that could be causing this is that my timing is too retarded. The timing has never been checked or adjusted since the cars manufacture date in '89...

    What can solve this??
