They're simply just not a popular platform.
I honestley haven't heard of any issues with the car.
It's a rare body style though.
Definately a less Americanized design. Looks straight out of JDM land.
Leisa and S. 4 Life NM?
It's 3,400lbs and only available in automatic.
I've looked into them quite a bit, not a fan of the Z31 engine but obviously an unlimited amount of swaps is available. Haven't been able to figure out what suspension it has, possibly from the S13 240 since its about the same size but can't confirm![]()
The added weight compared to say the S13 is in it's safety features, it has extra reinforcements inside the door and quarter panels making it one the safest vehicles produced in the early 90's but also way too heavy for a car of it's size...might not be too difficult to strip all that out though![]()
AKA the Nissan F31 Leopard. The F30 and F31 Leopards were direct competitors to the Toyota Soarer (SC300/400). It has a similiar suspension set up to the HICAS 240's. with a few tricks you can use the s13 suspension components. For the fronts, you need to obtain the inner and outer tie rods, lower control arm and spindles/hub assembly from a S13 240sx (89-94?). Then you're set to go. Most anything else between the M30 and s13 are compatable, as well as many items from an Z31. As far as Engines in japan they came with the following: VG30DET (non-intercooled), VG30DE, VG20DET. Though many people in Australia swap in SR20's and plenty of RB series motors. They are pretty bad ass cars IMO....definitely dont get the attention they deserve.

I was thinking M35s when I opened this thread
like a 2004 model for example!
Leisa and S. 4 Life NM?
well i mean they are nice cars very similar to the 240 and yes heay but with the weight reduction and power plants we have now days it can do just as well as a sc400 id think
It's a direct competition to the SC, i'll look into it again and see if i can get any more info on it...Originally Posted by SLYDWAYS240

i love the Tommy Kaira M30's
The J30 was a 4 door with a similiar engine to the VD30DE found in the N/A Z32 (intake, tuning, etc.), the M30 was a 2 door with the Z31 engine....technically the J30 replaced the M30 since one ended and other began around the same time.Originally Posted by JITB
Actually both the J30 and Z32 300z (N/A) had the same VG30DE(227 hp/198 ft.lb jap spec). The M30 and Z31 300z (N/A) had the VG30E (153-160hp/180ft lbs)Originally Posted by speedminded

The J30 engine isn't the exact same VG30DE is it? i'm pretty sure it's tuned differantly with just a few minor changes...who knows, may have just been the fuel map.Originally Posted by Sport20
Yeah the J30 has the same VG30DE, though i'm sure the tune is more Luxury oriented compared the performance minded Z carsOriginally Posted by speedminded

I just went to the dealership and looked at one of these and me and my friend have been kicking around the idea of buying one and turning it into a killer. The first thing tha struck me when I popped the hood was a electronically adjustable suspension sillilar to the TEIN EFDS. I have been asking around to see if a vq35 would fit into it. I thought if a 3.0 would a 3.5 shouldn't be that much of a strech![]()
N/A>>><<<BOOST
it's already got a VQ in it, just a vq30.
OK but will a 35 fit with ease or will it need alot of fab work?Originally Posted by KPowerEP3

Actually I was wrong. I assumed it was a VQ30, but it's a VG in the infiniti, so it could be a huge PITA
ive seen alot of drift mobiles and no M30's![]()
I had a pearl white convertible before I bought my srt. It was a nice car but things just kept going wrong. For starters they used too small of bolts on the exhaust manifold so they always broke when the car got some mileage on it. Finding a competent mechanic to fix that without messing up the engine costs $Originally Posted by ruffian
The adjustable suspension also went out. Plus so many of the parts were dealer only parts which cost alot of money. ($250 for power window button). When I finally got rid of mine it needed alot of work and just wasnt worth it. (speedometer didnt work, convertible top needed replaced, exhaust leak, power window motor gone, etc.) Also the convertibles were not from the factory they were sent to some company in california to be converted which lead to alot of problems with them leaking etc. They came with a boot to cover the top when you put it down which used small snap buttons to hold it down so most people lost the boots soon after getting the car. (cost me $400 to buy a new one)
so if I can offer any knowledge on the car let me know. Its been almost 3yrs since I owned it so I might get a couple things wrong![]()
Well you havent been looking in the right places lol. They are decently popular in japan. Though known as the Leopard, they came with the same VG30DET we got stateside in the Z31. the Fact that they are HEAVY hurt the image as an overall great drift project, but the aftermarket is def there for the car. Honestly the stock rear suspension doesnt help it much either, but can be replaced with S13 components to solve this problem and the fact they all came Auto can be solved by a simple Z31/Z32 tranny swap...i say be different and go for itOriginally Posted by SLYDWAYS240

A much easier engine to swap that would potentially harness a larger performance potential is the VH series V8's from the Q45 and Jspec 92-96 Leopard (same as J30 here), nissan cima and J-ferie The VH45DE being the largest at 4.5 liters makes 278hp/292tq respectively, while the smaller and higher strung VH41DE makes 270hp/278tq. Both are GREAT motors with plenty of potential and low end tq for days! This set up in a mildly stripped M30, with S13 rear suspension swapped would make a killer drift set up. I personally would acquire a 97+ VH41DE, have the ECU flashed and install a free flowing intake/exhaust and easily make 300whp. The motors rev very freely, Are cheap, have non siamesed ports unlike the 45 (better flow), aren’t as physically huge as the VH45, actually fit in the F31 shell with ease, and would sound WAY better then a VQOriginally Posted by ruffian

it takes a competant mechanic to replace a stud on a head?Originally Posted by atlsrt44
m30's are cool. however the floorpans tend to not get along with the subframe if you drift it a lot. all s13 stuff goes on for the most part, a z31 manual tranny and s13 pedals work to make 5 speed.
j30's you can use all the z32 stuff. coilovers from an s13 also fit a j30, but none of the other links except tc rods.
both came with vg's , which if you know how to fabricate and do wiring, a VQ, VK, lsjuan, 13b, whatever will fit. theres plent of room in the engine bay.
the vh's are the same physical size on the outside, just the bore/stroke is different.Originally Posted by Sport20
same motor they used for IRL originally though. definately cool motor. but putting a manual tranny on it requires an adaptor plate and a z32 tranny, which if your totally lazy is too much work to order parts online.
I should have been more specific when i said the 97+ VH41 which comes without the Spider style intake/individual ports, so its physical size with accessories is somewhat smaller, but you are right they are the same blockOriginally Posted by mikespeed95
. I havent heard much about manual swaps with them though. Where would you acquire an adapter for one? My buddy has a J30 with a VH41 from a 99 i believe, its such a fun car to drive and man does it have power everywhere...but it is still automatic

There was a M30 drift car for sale a while back for cheap!
Whoa, I thought they were only sold as verts here...
Very Rare but they came in Coupe form too. In fact there is no such thing as a Real M30 Conv. they were port optioned here in the states by a company called ASC. ~5000 M30's were supposedly built from 90-92. Half were slated for conv duty while the rest remained coupesOriginally Posted by VooDooXII
