Both are GREAT motors with plenty of potential and low end tq for days! This set up in a mildly stripped M30, with S13 rear suspension swapped would make a killer drift set up. I personally would acquire a 97+ VH41DE, have the ECU flashed and install a free flowing intake/exhaust and easily make 300whp. The motors rev very freely, Are cheap, have non siamesed ports unlike the 45 (better flow), aren’t as physically huge as the VH45, actually fit in the F31 shell with ease, and would sound WAY better then a VQ
the vh's are the same physical size on the outside, just the bore/stroke is different.

same motor they used for IRL originally though. definately cool motor. but putting a manual tranny on it requires an adaptor plate and a z32 tranny, which if your totally lazy is too much work to order parts online.

I should have been more specific when i said the 97+ VH41 which comes without the Spider style intake/individual ports, so its physical size with accessories is somewhat smaller, but you are right they are the same block . I havent heard much about manual swaps with them though. Where would you acquire an adapter for one? My buddy has a J30 with a VH41 from a 99 i believe, its such a fun car to drive and man does it have power everywhere...but it is still automatic
