Default General idea of turbo RPMs?

I was just curious as to what RPM's a turbo shaft actually turns when the exhaust is spinning it. This is mostly a Curiosity question, as my dad and I were talking about doing something with the turbo I have. However, I need some input before we move foward. Him, and myself are VERY knowledgeable when it comes to machine work and what not, and we'd like to do something a little off the wall.

    Thanks everybody!

Wow. Well, I'm running stock compression on my B16 CRX. So, we're only looking for 5psi, and converting my turbo into a supercharger. I have access to a laithe and mill so i'll be able to make sure its all built right, everything is lubricated and cooled.

    Thanks man!

hmm,i think you may need to change the insides on the turbo to have it work correctly.there is proably big diffrence in the way a super charger and a turbo spool up.the turbo spools on gasses that are pressurised and the supercharger is belt driven and spools based on engine rpm and the gearing in the turbo.just turbo the b16 and be done with it

I already have aluminum stock, steel stock, and bearings to run a "pto" shaft across the motor to hook it into the turbo. Also the means to keep that and the bearings lubed, seals, everything

It's all experimental. I paid 25 bucks for the turbo anyways lol. I'm threading the steel shaft, to connect to where the exhaust impeller goes on the turbo.

Thanks reps to both of ya. I found out exactly what I needed to know! Now all I've got to do is buy some oil lines, couple other things, and hit up the laithe!

i dont think your pulleys even spinfast enough to spool it up. I can see mine when im gasing it and it spins fast than my belts.

It's all about gearing. It'll work. I just have to gear it right. Again, I'm only going for 5 PSI.

It's not like when your engine is at 4000RPM's your Supercharger is at 4000RPM's.
    "Cool car" less.

hes correct the magic of the centrifigal super charger is in the gearing...its all in the gears.it takes the right gear ratio to get the correct rpm in the supercharger from the engine to make any real boost.and its all inside the blower.you might need a broken or dummy supercharger to make one. a turbo looks like a a few fins on intake and exaust side...while on the on the other hand the supercharger looks the same but deep inside it is a maze in comparison the (super charger being more complex), big gears, little gears to make 2500 rpms turn into 50000 or 150000 rpms..... or is it bearing size wait gearing ..good luck
